Brondak (Proudhammer) Steelheart is the second son of the King of Gautor. The royal family had long ago conquered the mountains and united the Dwarven race, yet now they are the ambassadors of the Grand Council. Ever since he was young he was gifted with magic, which led him to too often test his own limits. One day he was trying to learn a spell in order to listen to the voice of stone, so he decided to listen to the statue of the God Grabthar. Grathar is one of the great deities of the dwarves given that he is the Lord of Creation, Brewery, and Strength. Unfortunately for him, Brondak accidentally had his spell rebound, turning the once magnum opus into a pile of rubble. For this he was punished by his father (king's name) and the council. The only way for him to properly appease the God was to go into service to him. The kingdom was lucky Brondak was not the crown prince or they might have lost favor with the God in future generations.

Having now joined the Order of Grabthar, the once prince found his days filled with menial toil. At first, Brondak felt naught but bitterness and anger toward those who had forced him into this servitude and out of the house of his father; yet as time passed and his heart softened, he began to realize what a great honor it truly was to serve one so great. From this moment forward he would put all of his effort into his service to his God. Every morning he would be the first to rise and rush out to train in the courtyard with the paladins of the order; even after such a demanding work, he would hurry off to the temple to meet with the clerics and learn of the history and practices of their order. When he would find his tasks too much for him to bear, he would call upon his God and use the Chant of Strength to overcome his challenge. Larak Tarath, Larak Tarath, Larak Tarath, he would say and would thusly be overcome with the power and determination of the might of Grabthar and his Greathammer. The great blacksmiths of the proud kingdom Gautor boasted some of the greatest weapons and armors the world had ever known. Wanting to give his all to his new life, Brondak worked tirelessly over the anvil and burning forges of the great city in order to better follow whom he was now dedicated. As it turns out, he was truly gifted in making armor that can defend his brothers-in-arms from all who challenge. Let us not forget that Grabthar is the God of Brewery as well, most assuredly as anyone knows, Dwarves love their drink. With all the other skills honed to a fine precision, he now took on what might be his most difficult task yet, making a drink worthy of a God.

The council of the Order of Grabthar, having seen such true devotion to their God, swiftly added Brondak to their membership. Now not only was he once a prince, he also held a high position in the order which gave him a unique ability to be an envoy and speaker for the Order. Wishing to prove himself worthy of this honor, Brondak, with the blessing of his father, changed his surname to Steelheart to honor Grabthar and to show his devotion and love for the God. Now it would seem that there are stirrings of woe afoot. The order of Grabthar and the King of Gautor have been asked to send an emissary and warrior to the Ivory Tower to hear from the Grand Wizard Riktus. For such a great man to call together the Kingdoms for a council only foreshadows the markings of a great doom lurking in the dark.
