The Elves are old...as old as time...yet, with age does not always come wisdom; sometimes what grows is cynicism. The Elven people are one of the most insular races of Eldamir, even with their long-livedness they still do not seem to see the benefit of sharing and living with other races. This is not to say Elves are somehow evil at heart, rather they are world-weary. Living for hundreds of years and seeing the same mistakes be repeated over and over can truly grate on the nerves and the soul. Nèrik is no exception to this rule. Nèrik, much like the rest of his people, is a very gifted user of magics. Since his youth, though some would argue he is still quite young at only 179, he has always felt an affinity with the elements. Elves normally live and train near magical ley-lines, which gives them an even greater understanding and access to the powers of Eldamir. Like most other elven children who are seen to have potential for the magical arts, Nèrik was taken under the wing of Lyndel, one of the elder sorcerer's in his town of, Karannore. Along with the other children that were gifted, he would spend his days learning about the history of magic, how it is that users are able to even wield such power, as well as practical application. The leaders of the village quickly took notice of Nèrik's understanding and strength of magical power and decided that he should be sent to the Royal Capitol, EverTree, to undergo training from the greatest wizards and sorcerers the elves had to offer.

Upon his arrival, Nèrik was shocked to see just how large the city was. It wound around and through massive trees that stretched greatly upwards, for what seemed like...ever, and spanned over miles of forest. Here in EverTree they had a true magical academy, which was attended by the most promising youngsters in the whole kingdom. The training was grueling and the days felt as if they were weeks, but no matter the difficulty Nèrik pressed onward. He learned of the different Deities of the world and how they could grant power or teach their followers new and exciting insights. The God Zazrael was a very intriguing existence, for he moved around as more an elemental than a flesh and blood being. The Deity would sometimes become a Stag, but it would rather show off its awesome power as a giant storm, to rage across the skies, than be confined to tromping through the muck. After hearing of such power, it was now his goal to become the most powerful sorcerer in all the kingdom, or maybe even the whole world. When he would boast of his dream to others, they would smile or laugh it off as childish whimsy, but it was nothing of the sort. As time passed and the young man began to grow, his ambition grew as well. Now he no longer wanted to be the greatest in the world, no no, he wanted to be the greatest to ever live.

On one of the excursions the class normally took into the woods, to train and get in touch with nature, the class ran across a giant magical beast. The instructors did all they could to ward off this monster while commanding the children to escape and call for help. Unfortunately for them, this monster shredded them like confetti and began to chase after the children. Nèrik ran with all his might back toward the city, ignoring the screams and cries for help he bolted toward the gate. Before he could get in eye-shot of the city, the monster was already on top of him. He knew not what to do, he was frozen in place with fear. Time stopped, or did years pass him by while he looked into the eyes of this hideous creature, he was unsure of anything anymore. Suddenly, he heard shouting from behind and an arrow came whizzing overhead. The guards had come! It seemed it was not only the guards, but the army was also out in full force to fight this "thing". As his vision blurred he saw the fight begin, then, he fainted. As it would happen, The Great Lich had begun his crusade for world domination, thus awakening evil in all lands that had not been seen for an age. With so many now gone off to war to battle this new threat, there was naught left for Nèrik to do but study and train. By the time he was ready to join the fight, it was over. The elf decided that, now more than ever, he will need to achieve his goal at any cost and become powerful enough to handle The Lich should another ever rise again. As time passed he gained more knowledge and wisdom, as well as position in the Arcane Order of the Elves. Now he sat as a leader of the order and master of magicks. With the Grand Festival of the Six every nearing, Nèrik would soon be heading off with the Matriarch's escort toward Oakvale and the human Kingdom of Arkhad.
