This is inspired by real-world international currency trading. Basically the idea is to write some code for our region so we can have our own currency exchange. Basically: > All nations in the region are given an amount of money (bigger government & bigger economy = more money). They periodically earn a small income as well based on the same. > Nations can spend money on buying the currency of other nations > The price of currency is determined by the supply of currency (smaller government & bigger economy) as well as the demand for the currency (if lots of people buy that currency, the price goes up, and selling brings the price back down) > The exchange rate is naturally determined by the price of your own currency and the price of theirs. > Nations can sell that currency for a profit (or loss) Other features we could have: > Leaderboards for top investors this month / week > Opportunities to loan money to other nations > The same simulation could also be applied to trade goods. Our nations could buy up gold or something > In the long term we could add all sorts of neat stuff I just thought it might be fun to code this. Would anyone here actually be interested or would it just be me? |

There may be some pre-coded ZetaBoards stuff out there that puts in the money system and gives people an income - I vaguely remember seeing it in a big ol' database somewhere once. The exchange thing would be a lot more difficult, and presenting it prettily, even more. My coding knowledge extends to beginner\intermediate HTML and CSS, with a very small amount of JavaScript, so I'd be of very little help. Some pre-existing code I've found: Money per post + shop Advanced Money Script ZetaBoards Dynamo |

Thanks Nord. I'd be more interested in who'd actually use it if I made it on my own, though I wouldn't turn down help I wouldn't expect it either. Always lonely to make something and then you're the only one to use it. |

It definitely sounds cool. I'd probably use it. I know that Antonia is really into the economy side of stuff, so I'd wager he'd use it. |

I think this would be cool and would probably participate, but I don't know how it would work. Is it connected with our NS nation? |

@T&F - yes. It's based on your NS nation and the actions of others in the simulation. I guess that means there's interest. Give me a week or so guys. |

So, just as a basic kind of framework, I started by doing a very simple economic simulation. Here's what my basic equations say about your nations: ![]() Talo Balkan Founderian Talo Balkan Standard GDP estimate: $274,540 GDP per capita: $19,610 Foreign Reserve: $8,511 Larslandian Coin GDP estimate: $2,891,787 GDP per capita: $596 Foreign Reserve: $124,347 Triodard and Florardian Vaalbar GDP estimate: $874,525,532 GDP per capita: $114,933 Foreign Reserve: $29,733,868 Waltch wáicza GDP estimate: $553,862,339 GDP per capita: $114,933 Foreign Reserve: $17,169,733 russian imperialist tzar doller GDP estimate: $803,406,989 GDP per capita: $119,697 Foreign Reserve: $18,880,064 Palatankian Palat GDP estimate: $432,033,312 GDP per capita: $114,933 Foreign Reserve: $14,041,083 Antonia and Brookwoodian Kielveta GDP estimate: $193,927,180 GDP per capita: $116,124 Foreign Reserve: $581,782 Nettlesteinian Kronadom GDP estimate: $46,666,389 GDP per capita: $81,585 Foreign Reserve: $793,329 Marshallanan Mark GDP estimate: $45,279,451 GDP per capita: $110,169 Foreign Reserve: $1,697,979 Altarian κÏκλος GDP estimate: $974,120,076 GDP per capita: $118,506 Foreign Reserve: $23,378,882 Thedosian Republic credit GDP estimate: $1,001,984,491 GDP per capita: $119,697 Foreign Reserve: $44,087,318 Aprailean Credit GDP estimate: $302,100 GDP per capita: $50,350 Foreign Reserve: $4,229 So far so good I guess

Well, your economy is completely imploded. Also, will there be a hard limit on how much currency is in circulation? And if so, would that amount be standard for all nations (Like one billion units per nation) or would it vary based on our nation's statistics? |

"Also, will there be a hard limit on how much currency is in circulation? ... would it vary based on our nation's statistics?" A basic assumption of this is that all nations have a floating currency rate. I'm currently working out equations for exports (base demand for currency) and imports (base supply of currency). Obviously you can't buy more of a currency than is actually in supply on the trade market, nor would you want to because the price would go astronomically high because you'd be pushing up demand (though foreign investment into Larsland is very much welcome! ).How much you have available to spend on buying currency will be based on that foreign reserve number. |

I'm just going to wait for your final product to figure out how this works. I have a feeling I won't understand it until all the pieces are together. |
