After Half Master Race's adventure through the Savage Frontier, dealing with the Ordaining, rescuing Hekaton, the rest of the team took a break and went to their separate home's until they were summoned for the awarding ceremony. Holed up in her own home, the Tiefling stayed in her study sorting out books that she had come by during her travels and writing information down that she had learned from the Giant's during her travel as well as taking notes of the various creatures that they had encountered. Stacks of books were laid across her study table, her pet Griffon lay asleep in the corner of the room and the Lamia was writing away at her desk as she tried to recall every single creature that they had faced. She had her notes on the people that she had met, the towns they had visited and her sketches of the different giant runes. In her home, it seemed absurdly quiet. In such a huge house were only two creatures who hardly made much of a fuss. The place seemed almost spotless as she had just recently gone home and her apprentice had left long before she got back. Lamia laid back against her chair, picking up her goblet from the table and swirled it around before taking a sip of the crushed good berry juice. The Tiefling stood, grabbing some of her books and heading to the shelves to return them to their proper place. |

The journey from Candlekeep had been a long one, partly because the road was long, and partly because of his own personal "side quests." Why pay for an inn when a farmer's daughter's room was free? He will not be showing his horns around Goldenfields anytime soon. He forgot how clingy virgins could get (But how could he tell the difference?). His trousers were only halfway up when he found out Bridget (or was it Bella? He was really bad with names; he was just sure he knew a Bella and a Bridget along the way) had already told her father that she was to marry a son of Mephistopheles. He did not know how, but he apparently made it sound sexy and appealing to her. As her father ran in with a pitchfork, Ulth had misty stepped out the house, almost forgetting the books that Lamia had asked him to retrieve. It wasn't his fault that she got the wrong idea. He was VERY clear that he was only after her lady bits. Ulthware sighed, hoping to high hells that his protection spell worked. All that was behind him however, as he had made his way back to Waterdeep. Three days delayed, he thought to himself. It's fine, the Mistress would understand. Wouldn't she? He opened the door to the mansion with a knock spell as Lamia had left the door locked. Locking the door behind him, he gingerly made his way to the study where he expected to see his Mistress. "Mistress, I have returned with Volo's Guide to Monsters, The Ordening by Rathas Vagner, and a Treatise on the Abyss, just as you asked. Sorry I'm late," he said, feigning as much innocence as he could muster. |

From the study, the knock spell was heard which awakened Frostbite though Lamia remained unfazed and finished reshelving her books signing as she knew just who it could possibly be. Frostbite stretched as he awoke and bounded towards Lamia, sitting beside her legs as she turned to face the door of her study just as Ulthware entered. "Place them down on the desk, Ulthware. I only need those three to finally be done. You caused a delay though I trust you made use of Candlekeep during your visit?" Lamia made her way back to her desk, Frostbite going ahead of her and jumping up on her chair as he looked over the papers she had across the desk and almost knocking over a jar of ink before Lamia had grabbed it away from the young Griffon. Lamia proceeded to pet the Griffon as she made him go down back on the floor. "I ought to remind you that you prepare to leave in a few days, Ulthware." Lamia glanced over to a letter on top of an envelope and then back at Ulthware, wondering if her apprentice was up for the job and if she had trained him well enough though her expressionless face showed otherwise. |

Ulthware obediently placed the three tomes on her desk as instructed. The tomes made a loud thud, causing Frostbite to be jump up in surprise."Of course Mistress. The staff in the keep were quite...accommodating. And pretty too. And...sheltered." Though his Mistress did not see it, Ulthware naughtily cocked an eyebrow as he recalled the night he spent with one of the younger scribes. She was a fine piece of ass, and was quite good at explaining concepts and giving lectures. Very talented mouth indeed despite her inexperience. He was quite surprised when he found out that although she was great at describing the anatomy, she had relatively less intimate knowledge of it. Thus, the teacher became the student and the tiefling became the teacher. While he enjoyed his little sexcapades, he often muttered a silent prayer to whatever gods would listen that his Mistress never find out. Ah yes. The trip to Chult. The mysterious land of dinosaurs and wild people. While in Candlekeep however, he had heard some interesting rumors. Distressing rumors. Casting prestidigitation, the young wizard lit his conjured cigar as made his way to his room to get a change of clothes. The house was quite large to someone like him, as any home would be large compared to the little hovel he grew up in. It was quiet too. Having four walls not directly linked to another living quarter was quite different. No sounds of the neighbors fighting. No crying and whimpering from those living above you. Sweet, beautiful, silence. "Mistress, have you heard anything about a...Death Curse?" shouted Ulthware from his room, "It's all the scribes would talk about in Candlekeep." Well, that and how amazing he was. At least, that's what he told himself. |

Frostbite tried flapping his wings though the young one still had hardly developed the ability to fly. " I need not know the details of what encounters you had with the staff. Just ensure you did nothing to stop them from welcoming you into Candlekeep. Candlekeep after all, is a highly valued place of learning that I am sure you might wish to do research in, in the future."Lamia said as she picked up 'Volo's Guide to Monsters' holding it down for her eyes to focus on the pages. Lamia nodded at Ulthware, her tail swaying being the only thing that shows how delighted she was with more books in her library. I appreciate that you have fulfilled your task despite the delay. I suppose your training should not increase too much in difficulty." Lamia says as she sits back down, inking her quill and writing more on her scrolls. The door being left ajar bothered the Tiefling and just as the words "Thauma-" left her mouth in order to close the door, she heard Ulthware's voice from down the hall as Frostbite escapes out the door and bounds down the stairs. Placing the quill back to the bottle as Lamia stands and sighs at her work before she opens the door and heads towards the hall, not being the type to shout. " That is what the Zhentarim have informed me about, hence you must go in my stead to discover information with regards to this Death Curse' and perhaps even save the world from it. Even I have felt a tingle of it's effects though many others suffer greater consequences of such curse." The Azure Tiefling said as she crossed her arms from his door frame, turning away due to the cigar smoke. " Also, I need your aid in assuring the mansion is proper. My comrades from Half Master Race will perhaps pay me a visit quite soon. Kael, Tetsuko, Hiro, Welkin and Zirael I expect to be here shortly though I doubt they would all stay here of all places." Ulthware was not sure how to answer that question. He bet they would still let the Zhentarim into Candlekeep. Well, he hoped. Decided after a few moments to keep his mouth shut regarding the issue and let the silence speak for itself. Slipping into his more comfortable gold and black house robes, Ulthware was quite relieved to be rid of his dirty travelling clothes. The problem with always sleeping in a different woman's bed every night was that he would sometimes leave articles of clothing behind. The mage left with five sets of clothes and returned only with what he wore. He definitely needed a bath. A REAL one, not just one where he would repeatedly cast prestidigitation until all the grime was gone. Upon hearing his Mistress' reply regarding the Death Curse, he made his way back to the study to give her a proper reply. "Mistress I-", started the tiefling, but stopped upon seeing her discomfort with the smoke. With a wave of his hands, the smoke and his cigar were gone. "Mistress, about the Death Curse...I heard some rumors about it." The apprentice hesitated as the topic was awkward, but he needed to know. "Mistress, have you ever died? Word from Candlekeep was that everyone who has ever died are succumbing to their wounds." These he stated while tidying up the mansion and letting the sunlight into the living room in anticipation of guests. "Yes Mistress, it will be done." Guess the bath would have to wait. |

A lone boy docked his sailing ship in the Warrens presenting his identification and filling out the appropriate paperwork to secure his vessel in the ports of Waterdeep. After double checking there were no mistakes in the forms, he headed off to the noble's district in Waterdeep, flashing his Alliance ring whenever a guard would approach him. Under his breath he asked himself, "I wonder if the rest of the party has been receiving my messages. None of them have answered my sending spells yet. I hope my dreams have not been wrong and they're doing well." A little later he found himself at a quaint house, as simple a mansion could get at least, belonging to a certain tiefling. I wonder, is this the part where I knock or do I simply send her a message that I'm here already?, as he flipped through his spells mentally. Finally, having decided to give her a proper warning, he went back to the market ward. Hiro casted sending once more, in hopes of a reply this time. "Lamia, are you there? I believe you've been expecting us?", he mentions as he bartered for some local delicacies with goods from Calimshan. Waiting for some reply, Hiro walked a little further from Lamia's home as a Tressym pops its head out from his collar. "Stay still little one, it is not yet time for you to appear," he gently chided the catlike beast, "Maybe you should have stayed with the rest on the boat?" Lamia had somehow hoped that she would not receive a letter from Candlekeep with regards to her apprentice though she would have to wait and see. Knowing her apprentice and the rumours she had heard of his shenanigans, though she had faith that complains would not be made. "I told you to not regard me as your mistress. Calling me by 'Lamia' will suffice. Just because I am your mentor does not make me above you." Lamia said with a tinge of annoyance, sighing as she had reminded him once more. She had faced him the moment he turned off the smoke and breathed a sigh of relief. "Thankfully no one in the party every smoked." She thought to herself. "Go on." She urged him, her tail swaying as she was curious to the knowledge her apprentice managed to learn. With a straight face she replied " I have. Numerous times and yet here I stand though..." She shook her head, refusing herself to share any further than that. Her eyes narrowed for a bit before she relaxed them back to being expressionless once more. "This Death Curse is quite powerful. Many from the Zhentarim are falling ill from it as I recall hence those like you who have never died are the only hope." Despite how she had seemed, she did find her apprentice dependable enough and had even the tiniest of faith that he was capable enough to end the death curse. Seeing as Ulthware started tidying up, Lamia reinspected the guest rooms if they were tidy enough in case they would be used, making sure she did not have anything personal lying around. She rolled up the sleeves of the shirt she wore, seeing a few burn marks from the first time she had died in Barovia. "Tch, Cure wounds" The burn marks being lighter though a remnant of her death Lamia proceeded to head down the stairs, getting a sending spell. "Ah, Hiro? Yes, I have been expecting your arrival just as I have for everyone else." The Azure Tiefling replied, then producing a flame from her palm and throwing it to the fireplace. Frostbite darted out of the kitchen and ran up to Lamia, jumping up at her and then pointing his beak towards the door. "You wish to hunt in the yard?"" The Tiefling bent down and petted his soft feathers, going towards the door and opening it for him as she went out to front porch as she silently observed Frostbite from the door, making sure he was kept safe. |

The red tiefling of the bloodline of Mephistopheles was a man of few secrets, but the secrets he kept were held quite close to his heart. It was not yet time to reveal them however. "Being my mentor means you outrank me." Though it irked her, he liked calling her his Mistress. This was partly because it annoyed her, and mostly because he owed her everything. "You took me in when no one else would. You fed me, gave me books to read, and offer me guidance. To say we are equals would be an insult to you." Hearing about her many deaths worried him. If the rumors were true, then time was of the essence. THIS was the chance he was waiting for, to finally give back to his mentor. If he was successful, perhaps he would be comfortable referring to her on a first name basis. "I have done nothing to deserve calling you by your name," he said as he patted away dust and used his magic to disperse the dust into nothingness. "I understand." I cannot promise that I will not die, but for you, I swear I will not fail, he silently promised. Seeing that she seemed to be talking to a guest, Ulthware spread his arms wide, "SEBASTIAN!" With a puff of smoke, his personal servant appeared. "Help me tidy this place up for the Mistress!" Slowly, an invisible force swept through the room, cleaning all it came into contact with. Ulthware had to hurry before any of the guests arrived! Edited by Ulthware the Sage, Sep 9 2017, 02:16 AM.

As soon as he heard her reply, his ears perked up and his lips curled into a smile. "I'll be there in a short while then, just wrapping up some transactions. Are the others there yet?/" he replied back with another sending. All while finalizing his successful trade for some guldathen nectar and maerlathen blue wine using his anauran beans and quelaerel. Happy with his bounty, the lad headed over to the blue tiefling's dwelling with a jug of fruit jelly in hand. Along the way, he realized that some of his souvenirs are still in the ship but decided against returning in favor of seeing the rest of the crew. He visited a few more merchants that dealt with books and spells but not finding anything worth his while, he simply hurried all the way to Lamia's. He sent a few thoughts back and forth in his head, I should just enter, right? Wait, do I have the gifts in hand or bring them out later? Before he actually mustered his courage and stepped out of the corner and into plain view from the lodging. He noticed the druid and called out to her, "Lamia?", as he adjusted his collar slightly while waiting for a reply. Edited by Ichihara Kimihiro, Sep 9 2017, 02:47 AM.
