An Oddly Peaceful Day

After Half Master Race's adventure through the Savage Frontier, dealing with the Ordaining, rescuing Hekaton, the rest of the team took a break and went to their separate home's until they were summoned for the awarding ceremony.

Holed up in her own home, the Tiefling stayed in her study sorting out books that she had come by during her travels and writing information down that she had learned from the Giant's during her travel as well as taking notes of the various creatures that they had encountered. Stacks of books were laid across her study table, her pet Griffon lay asleep in the corner of the room and the Lamia was writing away at her desk as she tried to recall every single creature that they had faced. She had her notes on the people that she had met, the towns they had visited and her sketches of the different giant runes.

In her home, it seemed absurdly quiet. In such a huge house were only two creatures who hardly made much of a fuss. The place seemed almost spotless as she had just recently gone home and her apprentice had left long before she got back. Lamia laid back against her chair, picking up her goblet from the table and swirled it around before taking a sip of the crushed good berry juice. The Tiefling stood, grabbing some of her books and heading to the shelves to return them to their proper place.

"Do what pleases you in that case. I did take you in as I found you worthy of being under my wing compared to the many others who would not settle well with me." Lamia replied, sighing as her apprentice was too stubborn in that regard. Lamia waved a hand at him, dismissing the issue as she refused any further pressing on the matter as she was hardly the type to force it. "I recall that dinosaurs also being common in Chult. Remember to write, I would think you have died lest you not do so. " She put a hand on his shoulder and secretly casted Greater Restoration

Another sending spell arrived and the Azure Tiefling replied Very well. The others have yet to make their presence known. Lamia raked a bit of the leaves away, ensuring her garden was well kept and that Frostbite had been keeping up his training as she returned to being by the door. Lamia would have helped in tidying up more yet she would probably get in the way of Ulthware and his unseen servant, yet she recalled they cleaned just some time ago.

Frostbite settled for his small food as he was still quite young, Lamia petting him as he returned to her. Just as she was about to enter, a familiar voice caught her attention as he appeared from her peripheral view. Lamia stood tall as he called. "Hiro." The Azure Tiefling said, awaiting him to approach. "Do approach, I have been expecting you."

Not one to bring up the subject further, Ulthware just finished tidying the rest of the house. Now it was presentable he thought. The furniture was no longer caked with dust. The table was set. The turkey was being cooked and heated. Tea was set on the table alongside wine for those who would prefer it. He could never remember who among them was a drinker.

"What else did you want served, Mistress?" He only half asked this to be sure everything was in order, otherwise he was sure he got everything down.

Sighing. Already? They were coming already? "Sebastian, make sure the food doesn't burn!" he said as he tore the oven mitts from his hands.

With that, the apprentice went to the door to await the arrival of Hiro. His hand was already on the doorknob, ready to open the door once he hears footsteps.

Shortly after hearing the blue tiefling's response, the young man could not resist as he sighed at how late everyone was. Do they really think of the awarding ceremony as something they could just ignore?, Hiro grumbled in his head. He then shifted the knapsack he was carrying onto his other shoulder as he began to feel sore under its weight on his pale, lean body.

Upon rounding the corner and hearing her reply, the young wizard relaxed his weary alert consciousness as he felt the security that only a friend could give. "Not much has changed here, I see," he uttered after giving the place a quick cursory glance. "I don't suppose that everyone is magically behind that door," the lad jokingly said as he opened his pack and grabbed a large round sapphire. Holding it out to the white haired lass in front of him,"Ulthware's not around to pester his Mistress?" he quipped.

The divination wizard looked back inside his bag once more, this time with a look of uncertainty slightly marring his face. Do I wait for the rest before handing out the other souvenirs? Or maybe should I should give them to her so she can already prepare the appropriate accompaniments to the drink?, he mused as he was unsure if the druid and her apprentice had already prepared to serve their guests.

"I shall handle the rest of the meals. You may rest now." Lamia said from the door, dismissing her apprentice. She would set up a feast with the wave of her hands though normal cooking was also a joy if not for the number of people.

"I have not been home long." The Azure Tiefling replied, her tail dropping down. "No, just Ulthware remains inside." The Tiefling was taken aback for a second, not having expected a gem as she eyed it. "Why are you giving that to me?" Lamia asked, raising an eyebrow at him. "He is busy assisting me with preparations for your arrival along with the rest of the group" Lamia pressed on the door handle, swinging it slightly open as she made sure not to hit her apprentice by the door. "It seems one has arrived." She told Ulthware then looking back at Hiro. "Come in, have tea if you so wish.

Noticing the tiefling's tail slumping, the human from another world, "Is it such a trouble to be busy? Knowing that you've saved the world time and again is not enough to assuage you?", asked her. Slowly walking past the blue figure, he scans the place for the other interesting tiefling. "Ah right, you know not of wizard spells," the man smirked as he commented on her surprise, "so you would not know to crush it."

Looking through the now opened door, Hiro gave a light bow to the other resident of the house. "Your mistress has been a handful making you do all the work again?", he questioned the son of Mephistopheles, " Or has she finally thought to put down her books and stop being so distant to everyone?"

An unseen servant of his own creation opened a magical chest that appeared behind the wizard and pulled out a tea set decorated with the various rulers of Calimshan throughout its history. "I do hope you don't mind if I have Mokona serve the tea already?", the human wizard asked as his unseen servant brought the tea pot closer to one of the cups.

Standing with as much formality as he could muster, Ulthware tried his best to not have his poor upbringing betray him in any way. "The Mistress has kept me quite busy yes, and I'm afraid not. She does like to keep to herself, Master Hiro."

He was just about to reach for the tea set he had so painstakingly prepared when he saw the foreigner already come prepared. Fine, maybe another time then.

Ulthware decided that he would take his Mistress' command and take a quick bath while she entertained her guest. He made his way up the stairs. The third step groaned under his weight. Have to get that fixed, he thought.

Slipping out of his clothes as he made his way to the bathroom, the tiefling poured himself a bath and began to heat it slowly with his magic. Ulthware set himself down into the tub and closed his eyes.

As Hiro finished his sentence, Lamia felt a great chill down her spine. "Being busy is quite normal for me. I do not regard myself as much of a saviour of the world. " Her voice being stern though her thoughts were different I will never be a hero. yet she never let her facade break. Lamia's white orbs follow the young man, closing the door behind her. "This gem specifically does what?" The Azure Tiefling asked then shifting her attention to Ulthware. "Be more comfortable, Ulthware. You should as well enjoy and partake when everyone has arrived. You are no house help." hearing his reply to Hiro for a split second Lamia considered how different they would be towards her if they knew the truth.

Eyeing the chest, Lamia stared closely at the fine tea set which were brought forth. She, herself appreciated the designs upon the tea set as she took a mental note to do some readings with regards to the design of the pot. "I myself do not mind but Ulthware takes pride in being of help." Lamia said, eyeing her apprentice's reaction. "Perhaps both be displayed and used?." she suggested as her eyes dart between the two of them, checking if they were fine with that.

The tiefling had given him a start when she denied her claim to having protected the world. Her? Not a saviour? Maybe not for the entirety of Toril but for quite a number she is, quite clearly, the man thought much of her, After all, she has saved us countless times. As she closed the door and made her query, the boy gave her a look and nodded his head once. "Ah that, it's nothing much. Just crush it to receive some of the souvenirs I got from Calimshan," he replied with a small smile on his lips, "There were quite a few interesting ones I saw, Empires of the Shining Sea and Empires of the Sands being the most notable ones."

The sole human in the room noted how stiff the other male had been. It's quite adorable but he doesn't have to try so hard. Well, maybe he needs a little push from someone else, Hiro told himself. He transferred his gaze to the other wizard in the room and grinned innocently. "She is right, Ulthware. We are friends, are we not?," he asked, as if baiting the tiefling to say otherwise.

The divination wizard took another look at the room and finally noticed the tea pot in the middle of the table, most likely prepared by Ulthware. "My apologies, how could I have missed that in plain sight?," he jested "We could always have mine some other time." He could not believe that he let himself be overcome with the joy of seeing his old party that his vision had been clouded, almost literally.

Upon hearing a soft creaking sound, Hiro broke out of his ruminations and whipped his head to where it had come from, as if anticipating an unpleasant visitor. Realizing that Ulthware was departing, the boy's head lowered slightly and his smile drooped for a brief moment. He did not have to leave, did he? What am I supposed to do now?, he thought as he began to contemplate what his next actions ought to be.

"Ah, Calimshan. I see you have travelled far since we last saw each other." Lamia nodded. "Do speak about what you have learned during your lone adventure if you may." She asked as she escorted her guest to the living room, Frostbite keeping close to Lamia as she walked. "For how many days and nights did you stay in Calimshan? I suppose you are much tanner than before, Hiro." The druid eyed Hiro, seeing right through his intentions. Her apprentice hardly has any interactions with the group though she wasn't too sure about Hiro and who he truly regarded as friends.

Lamia nodded and her arm guiding him to her upholstery. The Tiefling was somewhat envious of the human as she had only read of such things while he had actually visited them. Lamia hid her jealousy though she thought that maybe once she would give herself a break, perhaps travelling with Frostbite wouldn't be a bad idea.

Her living room was large, a large sofa that could fit four people a top a red golden lined velvet rug along with two other sofa chairs were in the living room with a fireplace against the wall which emanated warmth from it's hearth. "What kind of tea did you bring?" Lamia asked, seeing as he seemed to stop what he had intended to do. Hearing that Hiro intended to have tea another time, "Until when will you be staying in Waterdeep?"

Seeing as her apprentice take time off for himself, Lamia poured herself tea and sat down on one of the sofa chairs where Frostbite jumped up on her lap and nuzzle her as she drank tea.

With the red and golden high elf in tow, Ulthware rushed passed streets filled with wary onlookers. It didn't matter how this looked, he told himself, what mattered was her friend is taken care of.

The black haired wizard cast some sort of invisibility spell. He was not as good as her, but he knew how spells worked. He wasn't all good looks after all. Still, he could not help but feel intimidated by the presence of the radiant Kael Inverse, whose charisma dwarfs even his! Bah! He was sure the beautiful wizard from the town square would be all over him now. Still going to try though.

His thoughts jumping between objectively trying to rush Kael to his Mistress' and the his new wizard's charming and reluctant sexiness, Ulthware eventually made it to the estate.

Throwing a single hand in the air, eyes the color of heated metal, "PORTUNUS." With that, the wooden door swung open. Down the hall, he clambered to the second door to the right.

Rushing to the study, he saw his Mistress and Lord Hiro having tea. "Mistress, Lord Kael has been injured! He needs healing!"
