After Half Master Race's adventure through the Savage Frontier, dealing with the Ordaining, rescuing Hekaton, the rest of the team took a break and went to their separate home's until they were summoned for the awarding ceremony. Holed up in her own home, the Tiefling stayed in her study sorting out books that she had come by during her travels and writing information down that she had learned from the Giant's during her travel as well as taking notes of the various creatures that they had encountered. Stacks of books were laid across her study table, her pet Griffon lay asleep in the corner of the room and the Lamia was writing away at her desk as she tried to recall every single creature that they had faced. She had her notes on the people that she had met, the towns they had visited and her sketches of the different giant runes. In her home, it seemed absurdly quiet. In such a huge house were only two creatures who hardly made much of a fuss. The place seemed almost spotless as she had just recently gone home and her apprentice had left long before she got back. Lamia laid back against her chair, picking up her goblet from the table and swirled it around before taking a sip of the crushed good berry juice. The Tiefling stood, grabbing some of her books and heading to the shelves to return them to their proper place. |

"Ahh. Hypocrisy in a church. Nothing new I guess. If you're so ashamed, then why are you even here?" Ulthware folded his arms. "There are good clerics, and bad ones. Good necromancers, and bad ones. Just because you hang out with the crowd that only pretends to care about the difference doesn't make you the boss of those who are willing to push the envelope. All you care about is your image." He walked up to the halfling, poking at his head with every word that came out of his mouth. "Just. Like. Your. Church." "The difference I see is this; your church exploits the living, while necromancers ensure the dead continue to act as a potential resource. It's always been about power, and you arrogantly believe you should decide for all." Just like that, he was back at the university. His anger may be misdirected, but this was the closest thing to it. His blood was boiling. Win or lose, he felt alive. Edited by Ulthware the Sage, Sep 12 2017, 02:36 AM.

"The Church serves the people, as best as they can provide, and as best as the people can receive. Maintaining a proper image is an important part of that role, as well as serving the people. Merrick glares at the Tiefling and points his finger "This isn't some idealistic little college where magi can dabble in the dark arts while getting high with their friends without repercussions. This is the real world, where cults can take advantage of the people and the uninformed and treat them as nothing much more than objects - resources in life as well as in death. Look at Thay!" Merrick folds his arms and conjures food and water around him as a prop to wave around - "At the least, the Church is the number one benefactor in solving hunger, disease, and driving for social welfare and change. I admit that dogma isn't perfect, but until a time comes where Necromancy would be a topic that does not endanger the masses, I will side with my Faith and act to protect those who we can't reach." Ulthware breaks down into laughter. He hadn't laughed like this in ages. Man. This was too easy. Almost every argument Merrick gave also served to shoot himself in the foot. "Just change the word 'college' with 'little all boy's Helm's school.' The only difference between us is that you speak for gods that do not give two shits about us mortals. At least those who study the arcane arts manifest their own destiny. You act like churches are free from any of your own accusations. Freaking churches shouldn't be so entitled to power." The tiefling smirked. Reminded him of the time he had a tussle with a priest during one of the ceremonies back in Neverwinter. "IS IT?! Your staunchest followers are the hungry, the diseased, and those in need of social welfare and change. You thrive on the suffering of others. Basically you're saying your dogma is imperfect and despite this you will attempt to impose it on everyone. Your gods aren't perfect...and thus your authority on morality shouldn't be so absolute either. Nothing treated as sacred can ever be improved. You seem like a sensible man, but sometimes I think you only force this logic because you like that your profession rhymes with your name." |

With the cleric's restoration spell in full effect, Kael's memories start flowing back, like a surging wave brought about by a storm. He has lost so much of his past, and now, everything has returned, with a vengeance. The sorcerer clutches his head, unable to contain the headache that accompanied his memories. He has grown accustomed to this pain. It was merely an outburst of wild magic, however; regaining all his memories at the same time amplified the effect, not to mention the bickering in the room. Magic is magic. It does not matter how you use it but why you use it. is his belief in magic, however; chiming in would have to wait. He could feel his skeletons trembling. Their teeth chatter as the magic that holds them become unstable. Kael musters his strength and says: "I'm sorry, I must go outside for a bit. Stay here my skeletons." The sorcerer becomes surrounded by silvery mist, and steps out. ~Backyard Kael reappears in a puff of mist, dropping on all fours. He looks at his surroundings. Nothing feels ordinary, altthough he does understand that times like these are never normal. The grass trembles, small stones start levitating and Kael could feel the earth shift beneath him. Moments after, he starts levitating as lightning arcs around him, setting on fire anything the bolts came into contact with. This was the biggest surge he felt in his whole life..... and its out of his control. The only thing left for him to do is to vent it out. Kael screams, and a blast of force bursts outwards, scorching the grass and powderizing stone. Panting, he lies down. "That sucked. Still, its good to be back." Kael says. |

The two's argument over necromancy and religion were amusing, but it had distracted Icarus from the problem at hand. Kael suddenly disappeared into silvery mist. " shut it you two, the sorcerer's--- " a scream cut off Icarus' words as she whirled around to the direction of the scream. Quickly, Icarus dissolved in a flurry of flames, moving in the direction of where Kael's screams had come from. She saw Kael on all fours as things around him began to levitate. Icarus stepped back, unsure of the backlash wild magic surge would do if she tried to contain it. One final scream, and Kael seemed to have exploded into flames, scorching everything within a small radius around him. Icarus barely had time to whisper an elvish word for her contingency spell--it a magical sphere immediately enveloped her, shielding her from the blast. As soon as the flames cleared, Icarus found Kael on the ground. Dispelling the sphere, Icarus hurried to his side to check for vital signs. She found him muttering something, sizzling, but alive. " Alright, just don't move. Don't cast. Don't do anything. " Icarus said as she turned to call for Merrick, but then went back, not wanting to leave Kael in case he did anything else stupid. Kneeling down next to him, Icarus cast a sphere of anti-magic, feeling her own powers drain from herself. "Merrick! He's out here! " Icarus called back into the house, keeping an eye on Kael. If he so much as tried to move, she was going to knock him back down with her staff. Edited by Icarus DeVir, Sep 12 2017, 03:13 AM.

"Icarus? relax I'm fine. The headaches gone. I remember everything now" Kael says. "Merrick's spell got the job done, although probably not as how everyone intended." "Remember all those times my magic burst out when we lived together in the underdark?" Kael says as he sits up and looks at her, pleased that he can remember clearly. "Its the same... except, this one was a lot more violent. Maybe cause of all my memories suddenly rushing back. Tell me, when was the last time you played in the rain?" He says, as he knows that if lightning accompanied his surge, rain will come right after. True enough, it started pouring. Edited by Kael Inverse, Sep 12 2017, 03:25 AM.

As all hell begins to break loose, a few hours prior, a half-elf with a huge bag filled with an assortment of goods finds himself casually walking on the street towards the house of his "dear" acquaintance. "It's been awhile since I've last seen the guys. I wonder how they've been?" Continuing from this, he ponders to himself ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "After finally dealing with the fiasco between the giants and the dragons, we all decided to go our separate ways for the time being. Zirael decided to go back home to her father's Vineyard. She's been sending me so many invitations asking me to join her and Tetsuko, all while recounting the merry adventures they've been having together these past few months . Needless to say, I rejected her offers... Rust immediately left us soon after ending the war. The guy was a wanderer for sure, but even then it was so abrupt, and many of us questioned as to where he decided to go after the battle. Deep down however, we all kinda understood that we would most likely meet again. The rest of the gang decided to stay in Waterdeep, mostly cause everyone lived or had business there, but specifically because no other place really warranted there attention ...As for me, I decided to make plans of my own, but before I could even begin to do so, I had to go back to my home to the east and make preparations." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally reaching the doorstep of his companion's house, he finds himself slowly approaching the door and wistfully knocks on the door. ..... a long but awkward silence follows as no one seems to come to open the door "No response. I guess I could let myself in." He opens the door, quietly shutting the door after so as to not make a commotion. After doing so, he takes a few minutes to admire the house, and finds himself roaming the interior of the establishment. Many intricate designs litter the place, as its filled to the brim with motifs and other religious and or cultural flairs. "For a supposed druid, she sure knows how to live fancy. Watch out Kael, seems like Lamia's trying to steal your crown for Faerun's fanciest house." Eventually reaching one of the foyers of the building, he stops and finds a comfortable chair to sit in. "Seems like I'm the first one to arrive. We all agreed to meet for the awarding ceremony. I guess I wasn't the only one who wanted to bail." As he was about to stand, from out of nowhere a huge tremors shakes the foundation of the household and pushes the young half-elf out of his seat. "WHAT WAS THAT?!!" Instincts and experience kicking in, he rushes towards the epicenter of where he felt the quake originate. Rays of light coming from the outside peak out of the stained glass windows, forming a makeshift runway as he rushes through the corridors eventually finding himself to the vast opening towards what seems to be backyard garden. There, he discerns a lone figure standing across a field of mass destruction. There, he sees a figure that invokes both a feeling of overwhelming nostalgia and irritation. There stands a single high elf recoiling after casting a huge spell and yet still ostentatiously holds full composure as his blonde hair gently billows from the immense shock-waves. "Oh shit..." |

"Relax, he says. You should've stayed in the Underdark." Icarus muttered absently as she looked down at the elf beside her. She shook her head. One of these days, his wild magic surge was going to be the death of him. it wasn't this bad before, but she had always suspected that the Faez-ress in the Underdark somehow helped control the surges. She glanced down at him, unwilling to drop the anti-magic field until Merrick came along and gave him a once-over. Heck, if she could, she would've thrown him in an anti-magic field until he lived out the rest of his days. Icarus couldn't imagine not having control over magic--it made her completely uneasy. If it were up to her, she would not have Kael out of her sight unless he had complete control over his wild magic. But from what she gathered after studying Kael's surges in the tower, she would have to lock him up in the tower for another hundred years or so. The weave of magic spun around him relentlessly. She'd also seen it twist her own magic. It bothered her, the way magic warped around him. Magic was a weapon--and not one that should have a mind of its own. "Oh, I remember. All too well. " Icarus said, raising an eyebrow. It was during that time that she had begun to place contingencies upon herself, realizing that it was a very real possibility--waking up buried under the debris of her tower, should something go wrong. The surges weren't so bad sometimes--sometimes Kael turned blue, sometimes Kael shrank a couple of inches--there was even one time he turned into a plant. Icarus had kept him on her window sill for a couple of days then, and had almost decided to keep him that way forever. But when it was bad, it was really bad. Kael was babbling about the rain, and as Icarus glanced down at him, a few drops of water fell on the bridge of her nose, before a light rain shower came down on them. She raised her hand to cast a spell, before remembering that she had an anti-magic field around them. " Come on, let's get you inside. You're too much of a spectacle out there. " Icarus muttered as she waited for him to stand up. Looking around, she saw another familiar figure. An elf. But not quite. " Look, there's Welkin. Go explode over there around him." Icarus said as she lightly tapped Kael on the shoulder so he'd get up. Edited by Icarus DeVir, Sep 12 2017, 09:49 AM.

"I may be a spectacle, but you're quite the star" Kael quips. "Thanks for coming out. Let's head back in" Kael says, as he magically cleans his cape and raises it above his shoulder, shielding them both from the rain. Heading back, Kael spots Welkin. "Sup dude" the sorcerer says. If he didnt recover his memory, he'd be quite hostile to him. Fortunately, he did. Despite his muddy ancestry, the man has proven his worth. He may be a pervert, but; he can fight, turning into a blur of shadow and steel. Kael would rather not admit it though. Edited by Kael Inverse, Sep 12 2017, 12:11 PM.

Focusing on her spell, plates of food started to appear all around the table. Assortment of food and drink began to appear from the simplest dish to some that looked over the top. Pork, beef, chicken and fish dishes appeared as well as vegetable dishes accompanied by various wines and juices, even dessert was therr. As Lamia had finished her spell, the Tiefling heard a loud scream from behind her house as well as a loud shout from inside her house who's voice she clearly remembered to be their rogue companion. A sigh left her as she would see what it was, hoping everyone was safe and nothing destroyed. It was always eventful when they were together. As she walked towards the door of her back garden there she saw two elves and a half. "I don't think I can leave any of you for even ten minutes. " the Tiefling shook her head as she approached Kael, albeit not looking too well. "If you would excuse me." As her hands began to glow very brightly "Lechit' Rani!" She exclaimed, waves of healing energy transferring to the High elf sorcerer. Lamia looked at all three of them, seeing as Kael was the only one who seemed unwell. As she looked at Welkin, she assumed he let himself in or Ulthware opened the door for him. Lamia crossed her arms at Kael. "Atleast you did it outside the house. Now if you are all famished, lunch is served."
