After Half Master Race's adventure through the Savage Frontier, dealing with the Ordaining, rescuing Hekaton, the rest of the team took a break and went to their separate home's until they were summoned for the awarding ceremony. Holed up in her own home, the Tiefling stayed in her study sorting out books that she had come by during her travels and writing information down that she had learned from the Giant's during her travel as well as taking notes of the various creatures that they had encountered. Stacks of books were laid across her study table, her pet Griffon lay asleep in the corner of the room and the Lamia was writing away at her desk as she tried to recall every single creature that they had faced. She had her notes on the people that she had met, the towns they had visited and her sketches of the different giant runes. In her home, it seemed absurdly quiet. In such a huge house were only two creatures who hardly made much of a fuss. The place seemed almost spotless as she had just recently gone home and her apprentice had left long before she got back. Lamia laid back against her chair, picking up her goblet from the table and swirled it around before taking a sip of the crushed good berry juice. The Tiefling stood, grabbing some of her books and heading to the shelves to return them to their proper place. |

Icarus nodded as they went back to the house, quickly casting prestidigitation to dry herself--she hated the cold. She was surprised to see Kael's reaction to the half-elf. Almost as though it didn't matter that he was a halfsie. She raised her eyebrows. Kael had definitely changed since the last time she saw him, if he didn't mind the half-elf so much. She herself only gave the lad a nod as they returned to the house, letting Lamia take care of Kael. At this point, Icarus couldn't turn down lunch anymore--she was ready to eat even meat. Still, social graces demanded courtesy, so she patiently waited for Lamia to be seated first before she found herself a seat as well. The food smelled divine. After entering the house once more, Kael looks at his skeletons. "Pick up my things and stuff them back in the bag of holding." Kael orders. As the sorcerer watches them work, he talks to Icarus, sensing her unease regarding his skeletons a few minutes earlier. "Don't worry. I may not be as proficient as you in animating the dead, but; I can assure you their bindings are absolute. I don't have to reassert control over them.... ever." He shifts his gaze to Merrick. "Thank you so much" he says as he hands him another bag of gold, definitely heavier than the first one. "I have lost much today, and you helped me recover. I hope this is enough." "As for my skeletons, both of them came from my travels. These two ambushed me on the road, thinking I was easy prey. Needless to say, I repurposed them to serve me. I hide them in the bag when I'm in populated areas to avoid spooking the villagers." "Speaking of which, go back inside the bag once you're done." Kael says as he stares at his skeletons. His skeletons finish cleaning up. They wave their hands and enter the bag. The scent of food wafts through his nose. "Let's eat" Kael says. "Lamia's food is great." |

The whole debacle seemingly concluded itself without a hitch as the mistress of the home decided to grace us with her presence. After giving the overzealous high-elf a stern lecture on his conduct, the the tiefling soon invited us over to the dining area as a feast has been prepared. "Well, all's well that ends well...." In the aftermath of all this, after being reprimanded by Lamia, the high-elf that I saw turned towards me and gave an unexpectedly warm greeting. To no suprise, it had been Kael all along, but at this point, I really had no other high-elf in mind who could do such destruction in a short amount of time. "Hey yourself." I responded casually "Glad to see you're as 'magically superior' as ever," saying so with a rebelliously sarcastic tone One would think it'd be odd to see a high-elf and "mud blood" like me talk with such informality, and sure enough I had sensed such awkward tensions coming from another high-elf with ebony hair seemingly judging me and my companions actions from a lofty distance. Nevertheless, I saw no wrong in being as such with Kael. The seven (eight; basically all HMR) of us have faced great ordeals together before, and such trials have tested us in ways that go beyond what the common folk could ever comprehend. To me, he was already a "brother-in-arms," an honorary "friend" if I were to impose and stretch the very definitions of the term "friend." We immediately find ourselves briefly chatting, making up for lost time, as we headed towards the banquet hall prepared to us by our ever-so courteous hostess. |
