Today NCSoft decided to take action on RMT (2nd Market Industry) and botters and in the process IP banned nearly every gaming tunneling company. (Tunneling is used by gamers to reduce their ping “latency” in game and speed up the connection to game servers.) NCSofts plan was to IP block the power leveling companies from having access to AION but it seems the idea has back fired. NCSoft did hit the 2nd Market Industry hard as we are hearing numbers of up to 80% suspension and ban rates on majority of the botting companies. In this huge swipe it seems that NCSoft has pulled a well known Blizzard mistake and took out many innocent gamers by hitting the tunneling sites. Some tunneling sites are reporting a 100% IP Ban and all of their AION customers are now unable to connect to AION using their company. This has created many issues for these companies as customers are now demanding refunds or filing charge backs. On top of all of this it seems NCSoft does not email their customers to tell them that their account has been suspended, banned or even why! If you’ve been a customer of Blizzard you know how horrible their customer service can be. It seems that NCSoft has taken it to a whole new level with this major screw up. What’s even better then that is the fact that they are deleting posts on the official forums in reference to this screw up. You can see this by all of the deleted posts and people posting about NCSoft deleting their posts. If you are one of the unlucky people that got suspended, please contact NCSoft tech support and work with them to get your account unlocked. If you use a proxy service or tunneling company and your account was suspended or closed, then it’s a good bet that your proxy / tunneling company was hit. |

No explanation was given for the bans, no email stating what they did but they suspect that getting involved with RMT was the cause, which I think is kinda unfair for us who do not have the luxury of time to level up and opted to buy aion kinah for our gears. And http://www.epictoon.com is truly worth my trust for keeping my account safe and it doesn’t spam in-game! |

Actually, NCSoft's aion mass banning is not the solution to get rid of the in-game spam or whatever. They can't just tag everyone as suspect; otherwise they end up alienating and offending A LOT OF PAYING CUSTOMERS, regardless of their personal stand on RMT, and whether or not they have purchased virtual currency. They should go after the spammers, not the players! |

@Calindor How could you be so happy when the Aion account you just paid was banned? I'm pretty sure that every player that was booted from the game are on wrath! Obviously the issue is the companies behind the spam, not the players. |

My account wasn't banned. And spam is not the issue, its the actual buying and selling. And going after the supplier never works, they get accounts and buy in bulk. The average person who bots/buys gold can't afford to keep buying accounts, plus it will scare people into buying in the first place if they know theres a risk in getting caught. NCsoft (in Korea) is doing a good job, better than most games...it's too early to tell how NA is doing...But most ex L2 players (the most bot/ebay filled MMO ever made) are happy with the results so far. |

I've botted in wow, I've bought gold in everygame I've played at some time, and I have gotten a power lvl before. That said being a customer I take responsibility in knowing that these things are against the rules. So if you are caught doing these things, there's no reason to all of a sudden act innocent. It's not like this is the first time someones gotten banned for botting/gold buying. Edited by Cenauri, Oct 16 2009, 01:10 PM.

well the spam is boring, but banning 2-3 chars daily is a painless solution. where's demand, there's a supply as well. about the way ncsoft chose: its' the only working way, till players won't be scared to get banned for buying kinah, sellers won't stop with that. unfortunatelly, many innocent players getting hit this way |
