A horse stirred as a knight sat upon it, holding a lance decorated with a yellow-and-black banner, painted with blue stripes, and finished with a red feather near the end. The knight himself was also highly decorated, with a black set of plate and yellow tunic that could be seen slightly, rondels near the pits with a spiraling pattern, topped with a sallet with a matching face cover and red feather, same as the lance. In his left hand, a kite shield, with the same decor as the banner that lay on his lancer, as well as the horse, although this design on it had a coat-of-arms near the chest and on the top of the head. Beside him and for several rows deep, knights all sat upon their horses as well, some looking distinctive from each others, while others could not be told apart if it weren't for the banners that had. The knight looked behind the other knights, seeing the mercenaries his kingdom had bought, from distant lands, and lands that lay yet uncovered. In front of them lay rows and rows of infantry and archers firing into a line of people, who he could not tell who, although he did know these were the men invading Strosburg, coming in from the lands from the west, that still are a mystery even to the most seasoned explorer. These were the men to be stopped.

A shout was called out, followed by a trumpet, then more shouts and more trumpets. The mercenaries that are sat behind them began to beat on their shields, yelling and throwing insults at both the knights and barbarians. Then all went silent for a brief moment and a shrill, ear piercing war horn called out, booming across the battle field. The knight put down his lance, the banner waving in the wind as he aimed it, slowing breathing as he waited for the next sound...then it happened. He heard a voice call out to charge and all the trumpets booming out at once. Hitting his stirrups, his horse jumped into a charge, as did all the other knights around him, running towards the foreign invaders. It felt like an entirety as he crossed the plains to reach his target, as men and horse fell down beside him, but to him that did not matter as the first line crashed hard into the wall of men trying to hold up their shields. As he crashed into the line, men flew back as the horse slammed everything down, crushing everything that it stepped on, including people. He heard a disgusting crunch as his lance slammed into the chest of someone wearing chain, breaking in the process. Throwing the remnants to the ground, he pulled out a mace from his side, sided with six ends, and a spike near the top. He slammed it into the nearest person, seeing blood come out his mouth. He kept hitting people as he rode through the lines, trying to keep his momentum. But then, it ended, as soon as it started. The men they had fought hard began to flee, but most of them were cut down as their retreat became a full rout as the infantry came, armed better than the invaders. Soon the battle would be over, a victory for Strosburg, but how long would it last, the knight wondered.
