A lot of people here may be new blood to e-feds, and we totally dig that! So you might be asking some questions that we will do our best to answer. If you have any other questions, please respond below.
So what is this place? Well, THE RiiNG is an e-fed run by yours truly. An e-fed, for those not in the know, is basically a computer/word based way to play wrassler. We post the cards, you post the promos, we pick the winners.
What do I need? A character, for starters. I don't know how other people started, but when I initially started RPing I used my favorite CAWS from WWE games. And remember, just because you start with a particular character or pic base or idea doesn't mean you can't evolve!
Can I just be an ROH/NJPW/WWE wrestler? I mean, you -can-. But CAWs are really more gratifying.
How do I know what kind of gimmick to have? I'd start with your favorite WWE game and then hit the dojo.
What if I want an "edgy" gimmick? As long as you aren't a fuckin' nazi, I don't really care if your person licks blood off the ground.
How do cards work? We'll post cards bi-weekly. A lot of us have families or school or whathaveyou that we need to tend to. The goal is the post the card on Friday and give everyone a full nine (9) days to promo. That would be until the next Sunday, by my count. Then my writers and I will have 4-5 days to get the show written and hopefully posted by Thursday!
So there are two shows a month? I would assume we'd need an extra week to talk amongst ourselves to get the next card out. So, in reality, there's only one show every three weeks or so. Which also helps everyone balance life and RPing.
What if I have a personal/professional/real life issue and I have to leave? Then you leave. My only request is that you please let us know. Nothing is more frustrating than wondering why someone dropped off the planet. Life comes first, and if anyone says otherwise they are booty.
What if I don't like how you write my character in show? Then tell us! We're only as good as your feedback and we want you to be able to see your character when you read your matches.
How do promos work? I'm gonna point at one of my favorite of all time, CM Punk. Especially his infamous Pipe Bomb or "Your arms are too short to box with god." Watch his or KO's or Miz's promos and learn. Find someone close to how your gimmick works and take notes.
So I'm just talking shit to people? Basically! But be sure it's their character and not their person. Or you could end up shit talking Prince Nevitt.
What if I want more help getting better at promos? Hit the dojo my friend! Its our version of NXT without the airtime.
What if I don't like what the trainer says? Then either your trainer is an asshole or you need to accept criticism better.
How do winners get picked? Promos! The more you promo and the more you actually try, the more it means to those of us picking winners.
What if my opponent promos more than me? I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity. Just because your op promos 6 times and you only promo twice, doesn't mean they get the win. Make your words count.
How often do I have to promo? Well, we'd like at least one per card you're scheduled. But again, life gets in the way and let us know if you can't show up. We don't want to squash you for something you can help.
Do my promos affect the matches? Absolutely! Your showing up at all promises you won't get squashed. The better the promo battle, the better the match, the better the push for all parties involved.
So do wins and loses really matter? Yes and no. Let's say you do a great job on promos for the week but still come up short. That win is great for your opponent but your promos could help us realize you're for real and help push you farther.
