TAG V4....again
Posted by Hiddenzbu (Admin) at Feb 19 2013, 11:04 PM. One comment
Long time no see, eh guys?
In any case, its been a long time and I doubt many of the old members of TAG will be interested in returning, but I would like to give it a shot at reanimated this forum. My interest in the Pokemon games has returned, and I feel I've gained much wisdom in the recent years that will help me better lead such a gathering of diverse people as TAG usually garners. The world has changed in many ways in the past years, but so have we all. And maybe, just maybe, we can make this place great again for a new generation of people.
-Admin of The Aurora Gate, Hidden
P.S. If anyone is interested in helping with the renovation process, please send me a personal message or hop over to the sub forum I will be placing in the discussion forum. (I will amend this post with a link post haste)

A change of pace

Pokemon has brought me a lot of happiness over the years. From the games, cards, tv episodes, and of course the people in the community. While it was fun while it lasted all things, even life itself, must come to an end.
I realized when reviving TAG that my love for Pokemon just wasn't there anymore. I tried and tried, but even with the 5th generation appearing, it was no longer in my heart to care for these creatures. Then I saw an episode of an old Anime I enjoyed as a kid: Digimon.
Suddenly all the magic came back. The cards, the show, the games. Digimon was truly where my heart was. So I'm happy to inform you that in the next several days you will see a major overhaul of the forum and site to no longer focus on Pokemon, but will now focus on all things Digimon.
I hope you join us on this grand new adventure!

PO Gyms Under Construction

We have decided to create a pokemon league (gym and such) using Pokemon Online as the medium. Woot!
I expect the league to be up and running with the next two weeks, but before we can do that, we must decide on all the rules. We would like you to help us decide on these rules.
Please post in these three section for different aspects of the rules:
Gym Leaders/Gyms
Rules (Clauses)
Tiers/Dream World

Check out the newest theme for The Aurora Gate. It is colorfully titled Aurora Blast because the colors remind me of mountain dew baja bast at taco bell lol. You can switch to it view the board assistant in the bottom left hand corner or preview the theme by clicking here
Forum Chat

It appears that all the chatangos are down for a reason unbeknownst to me. It could be a server problem or just maintenance. I will keep checking back and if need be we will simply switch to a new chat service.
EDIT: Put up the official zetaboards chat as a temporary stop measure.

Pokepark is OPEN for Business!

Poke park is a minicommunity here within TAG that will end up full of minigames! Right now there is one minigame ready to play, which some of you have found already, but hold your horses. First please read the rules located in the Pokepark section and THEN request a Database in the Meeting Place Subforum as I can't give out rewards until your database is made.
I encourage anyone to play as I am working on two new minigames and it shall be fun times. Please join me. ^^

TAG V4

Hello again everybody and welcome to what I affectionally call "TAG V4", or rather the fourth overhaul of The Aurora Gate forums. A lot of things have changed, been added, been deleted, or changed out. But before I get to those big changes lets take a quick look back shall we?
The original TAG was great for its purpose of providing a safe location from the mass exodus of clan stricken PWF, but it was very limited in its function. It had the chatango and color coded groups, but there was a severe lack of features that I only realized after I started experiencing other boards as well.
TAG V. 2, the biggest change to the forum after about a year of its existence was tentatively titled "TAG: Advanced" and brought a lot of great new things like a wide variety of emoticons, the dice roll for the TCG, rainbow text (along other lesser used BB code additions) and other modifications.
The third version of TAG came around several months ago when TAG was first starting to be revived, but I will openly admit that at the time my heart was not in it. As such most of the changes made in this update were cosmetic: new topic buttons on topic view pages, the preview button changing to "update preview", etc. These changes were hardly noticed.
But with TAG V.4, its a new beginning for everyone, just as generation five starts coming up on the horizon. Hopefully with a new TAG, a new set of pokemon games, and new members we will be able to make this place better than it ever was, even in its supposed hey day. But I've dragged this on for long enough.
To show you how much I've rededicated myself to this community, allow me to show you what I've been working on:
First off, if you haven't been here in a while, or aren't logged on you will probably notice the new blue/red theme that features Milotic. Its not the greatest and is still being tested but I am still proud of the work I've completed on it. All feedback is very welcome in the appropriate sections.
And now lets start with the new features. A small, but welcome change is a new stat square dedicated to users that logged on in the past 24 hours. A handy device for seeing who is truly active on TAG.

Just below that you can see another cool feature, the board feed. This square runs through the five newest changes on the forums, wether that be new members, new replies, new topics, etc and will supply you with the appropriate links in case you missed the action on the board upward.

We've long since dropped the reputation system due to abuse, but I've decided to bring back something along similar lines: a Like/Dislike system. Just like on facebook you can like or dislike each post by using the buttons on the bottom right of any post. You can change your choice at anytime as well as see if others have liked or disliked the post. We'll keep it until its abused, but hopefully the fact that it is by post rather than member will keep it clean.

Right next to the like dislike buttons you will see a new button just past the quote button. What does this do you ask? With this you can easily quote several posters on a thread at a time! Yes, no longer will you have to reply to each post separately. Simply check all the posts you wish to quote and they will appear in your reply. Handy huh?

Scanning through a subforum for new topics but not sure which ones are worth your time? If you remember topic preview 1.0 that allowed you to hover over the title to see the first post as a tool tip you will surely enoy topic preview 2.0. Simply click 1 or more "+" symbols next to the topic title and you will be presented with the first post allowing you to search through an entire forum for topics you like in seconds flat.

Moving away from posting to a more community style feature, you are now able to post comments on your friends Profiles! Hooray! you will need to register to use this feature but once you do you can leave nice comments on any members profile, whether that be a happy birthday wish or just checking whats new. Like most of these new features there is a lot of options that go with it.

In addition to the topic preview and board feed, another handy tool for finding topics that interest you is our new Board Assitant. A compact multi-tool application that you will find yourself using quiet often. Clicking the "assitant" button at the bottom left hand corner (should look like this)

Will open up a bunch of options for you to choose from. Switching themes, eyeing new replies, or quickly pm other members can all be done just by a few button presses. Isn't technology wonderful?

I also really wanted to include the new "achievement" system I've been working on, but its still needs some major tinkering before it can be released. But at least you know that means there is still more good stuff on the way in the near future.
So for all of you that are coming back, welcome home. And to any new member reading this, I welcome you to a community that if you let it, will come to mean a lot to you.
Look out everyone, TAG is back
