Too many sections?

I don't know if it's just me, but it looks like there are too many sections. Like the whole color->metal generation sections could all be grouped together, or the trainer corner and pokemon analysis sections sound like they have the same goal. I guess that's it.

I've been thinking that there are too many sections, but Hidden had recently rearranged the boards and I didn't want to touch them. Whenever we get the new site's forum coded I'll be sure to keep everything as simple as they can be.

I think it opens up more opportunities to post. To be honest, we actually have a lot fewer boards since we downgraded the smash brothers section into a single sub forum.

I'm with Hidden on this. I'm not saying it's a good thing, but about 95% of posts ONLY go in the most recently changed thread. The fact that there are so many sections means people at least have more "Last Post by..." things to look through, without having to trawl through all the threads like you would if they were in a single section.

Feel free to suggest other means of organization though. I had to go through several drafts myself before deciding on the current layout of the boards

Well stuff like the trainer corner and pokemon analysis. The whole pokemon analysis thing sounds like the POTW idea, unless the POTW isn't for teaching "how to play with your favorite pokemon." And then to have one for each generation? I'm pretty certain the vast majority of pokemon players here are solely playing the current generation, as that's the only generation we can actually each other battle with.

And like the Trading Card Game section (where every topic is started by hidden). I don't know if there's a whole trading card game movement I don't see, but if there isn't one, does it really warant its own section (even if it is 'on theme' with the site)? I guess if you really want to keep this stuff for the random few that might actually use it, at least try to put it into a subforum where it doesn't add extra length to the site.

Other than that, it seems like you could combine all the generational pokemon discussion sections. Anyways, that's just how I see it. Well, actually I see it like Mr Choo does, it's just too tedious to look into sections when there are so many of them. Man do I write too much.

The analysis is supposed to be a bigger better version of the POTW in a sense since it deals with pokemon from 1st gen to 4th gen. Also, while POTW is more about what individuals do (liking adding a particular move, or preferring a certain type of ev distribution to complement their team) the analysis is supposed to be a metagame overview.

I agree with you on the Pokemon Trading Card game section as a failed experiment but unless I took that risk of putting it as its own forum it would never really be popular, but yeah it could be merged, perhaps with Jubilife.

I have to disagree on the discussion sections simply due to the fact that many people do play the older games (for nostalgia or monotype challenges) and even if they didn't its still there to discuss things you remember about those generations.
