The road to Greenest has been light, but scenic, as you slowly make your way through the countryside of the Kingdom of Valeria, formerly known as the Burning Coast. You have each taken different paths to get to this point, but each path was as uneventful as the other. The lush plains of the coast don't allow for many hiding places for bandits or ambushes, and even so, adventurers such as yourselves don't typically have much difficulty with the random brigands and thieves that find themselves lurking in the shadows, waiting for unsuspecting prey. Upon approaching the city, however, you immediately sense that something is wrong as the sun dips down towards the horizon. The normal sounds of summer suddenly draw quiet, instead replaced by screams and what sounds like the crackling of flames. You hear a cacophonous explosion, shaking the ground at your feet, even as far away from the town as you are, and your pace immediately quickens. As you crest the top of the hill that looks down into the valley where Greenest lies, you see a city in flames. From your distance, you can make out humanoid creatures frantically running around, causing chaos and attempting to strike down any villagers that come their way and, amongst all of the chaos down in the city streets, you hear an enormous "whoosh" as a blue dragon flaps its wings, soaring over your head and dipping down towards the town before letting off a blast of lightning that hits something, causing a massive explosion in the center of town. Your pace quickens and each of you passes through the gates into the town at different times, all ending up in the town square at roughly the same time, each on different sides of the square, looking and surveying the damage done to the city. Before you can react to anything, however, you notice three kobolds and what appears to be some sort of dragon-like creature anarchically destroying the town square. They are all too preoccupied with their current task to take notice of any of you. What would you like to do? As far as who is who, Jareth is the top left token, Soliel is the top right and Oakenheel is the bottom left. Also, click on the spoiler to see an explanation of the map. Soleil stares unflinchingly at angry blue behemoth bearing down on her. She leaps down from her perch and out of the drake's line of sight. The drake's hot breath has moved some of the thatch roofing, creating more holes. Soleil silently steps to the side as she pulls her longbow out and knocks the arrow. She waits patiently until the drake's large golden eye appears, searching for her. With a cocky smirk, she utters "Si said si meant wux thric levnim. Shar filiik svabol? Si wharaca." As the drake's gaze finally finds her, she lets the arrow fly. Translation: I said I meant you no harm. But guess what? I lied. [result]2&2,1d20,0,2&1d20[/result] +3 +2 |

The acrid breath from the drake burns Soleil's eyes as she steadies her bow and, as the lets the arrow loose, the tears cloud her vision and the arrow sails off, embedding itself into the wall of the building behind the drake. She swears under her breath as she retreats back and tucks behind the next booth in the line. Up Next: Ambush Drake

The drake, undeterred by the onslaught of arrows that it has been facing, continues its methodical hunt of Soleil, striding forward and precariously making its way over the unsteady footing of the crates behind the shop, stopping just a short distance away from her, its pungent breath still burning her nostrils. The kobold's eyes draw focus on Jareth, the threat that is directly in front of it. With a snarl it slashes out with its dagger once again and once again, Jareth manages to parry away its vicious attack. Up Next: Jareth

The head of the Kobold comes unlodged and tumbles to the ground. That's when he hears the roar of the Drake. He glances at Ulric. "Sounds like this isn't over yet. You in stranger?" Jarreth doesn't give him enough time to respond, rather he takes off at a sprint toward the Drake, pulling his crossbow from his back as he does and firing off a round. The bolt unleashes from the crossbow, but in his haste, Jareth is unable to draw a bead on the drake and the bolt clangs off of the merchant booth next to it. The drake's head whips around, focusing on its new aggressor, and unleashes another roar, this time in Jareth's direction. Up Next: Sir Ulric

Ulric straps his battle axe on his back where it came from, wincing in pain at the wound he suffered across the chest. He watches the stranger take off for the back of the market, and the paladin surveys the area in front of him. Finding an untouched booth near the side street, he sprints over to it and ducks behind the stall, maintaining his cover as the drake's attention becomes drawn to the kobold-killing stranger from earlier. He quickly peeks around the corner of the stall, using his superior vision to spot the longbow-wielding attacker remaining behind cover. "I wonder if she's injured," he wonders quietly but aloud. He decides to hold his ground, taking the battle axe off his back once more and leaning heavily on it. |

Soleil hears the clang of the arrow and the heavy footsteps coming her way. She peeks around the crates and notices the drake's attention is no longer on her. She takes a step out from behind the crates, knocking her arrow as she does. She mutters to herself, "I don't know who the hell he is, but this could be the chance I need." She lets the arrow fly directly at the drake. [result]11&11,1d20,0,11&1d20[/result] +3 +2 After the arrow releases, Soleil retreats back in stealth.
