Soleil opens her sapphire eyes, coming out of her trance at the sound of Jareth's voice. Her brow arches as a smirk creeps across her plump lips. "So much for a consensus. Alright prince, you think the tunnel again? I happen to agree but I think it's prudent to remind you all of what we found last time. We know Rath is on the run for now but he still holds the leverage. Our friends and these people are still at risk but we need to find some answers if we're going to be able to save them. For now, I say we get the hell out of here." She gets to her feet and adjusts her equipment, glancing at Jareth and Ulric briefly before striding toward the trap door.. She begins to climb down the ladder, pausing momentarily. "Thought I'd go first this time. Hope you don't mind." |

You climb down the ladder into the chamber below and notice an immediate change. The desk that was once in the middle is pushed aside and a lone body has taken its place, lying in the midst of a puddle of blood. You step forward and, as you do, you see that the body is that of Tarbaw Nighthill -- the governor of Greenest. As you get closer, you notice that the throat has been cut from ear to ear and that there is nothing else in the room. Perception Checks Ulric: [result]14&14,1d20,0,14&1d20[/result]-1 Jareth: [result]17&17,1d20,0,17&1d20[/result]-1 Soleil: [result]12&8,1d20,4,12&1d20+4[/result] You all notice a trail of blood running down the stairs in the corner of the room. Jareth and Ulric - You notice that the trail of blood is not nearly enough to be coming from someone whose throat has been cut and that the point of origin of the blood is not from the body itself. Jareth - You hear what sounds like faint whimpers coming from the stairs. GM Note Investigation checks can be done to learn more about the body or about where people in the room may have gone. Arcana checks can be done to learn about anything potentially magical in the room. Edited by DungeonMaster, Mar 17 2016, 07:29 PM.

"Even Arashu could not save this poor, poor soul." Ulric completes his prayer for Tarbaw's soul to Kalahira and looks around the room. "The room looks like it was set up just for us, but I cannot be certain." Investigation: [result]11&11,1d20,0,11&1d20[/result]+1 |

Ulric - Upon inspection of the body, you can tell that he has not been dead for long -- probably no more than a half hour to an hour, at the most. You also recognize that his wrists and what you can see of his neck are raw, as if he were chained by them for a long period of time. |

Soleil looks around the room, curious to find out where Rath and Frulam had fled to. "Tarbaw looks well beyond our help now, I think we need to focus on finding out where the others have fled to so we can take care of that threat." She recalls what Castellan said about the portal and focuses her energy on trying to detect the presence of the portal. "I'm curious to see if they've used any type of magic to hide their trail." You don't find any sort of magic that is covering any trail of escape; however, it doesn't take much for you to identify the markings of a teleportation circle on the floor of the chamber. Your knowledge of these circles isn't extensive, but you do have some cursory knowledge from what little contact you had with them. You know that they can be tied to any location, though you need to know the specific incantation for a specific location and the incantation is different for each different circle. You also know that if the runes that make up the circle are broken or altered in any way, the circle will no longer function. |

Soleil moves over to the teleportation circle and bends down to examine the runes. "Here's the circle Castellan was talking about. I hate to admit this, but I don't know the incantations well enough to know where they lead. I think it'd be in the best interest of Greenest to destroy it so Rath and Frulam can't use it again. Especially since they're not equipped to fight them off again." She pulls a dagger from her belt and begins to scratch the runes. |

It takes you a few minutes, but you manage to scrape up the runes enough to where you feel comfortable that the circle will no longer be useful. You're fairly certain that they have other ways of moving around, but at least this way yours confident that they won't have a direct route into Greenest. |

Feeling that you've gleaned all that you can from the room and the body, the three of you congregate at the top of the stairs heading down as the whimpering that Jareth heard becomes louder and audible enough for the rest of you to hear it. |

"You guys both hear that someone else is in this room still, right?" Ulric moves back down the stairs, toward the sound of the whimpering. Investigation: [result]14&13,1d20,1,14&1d20+1[/result] |
