Frank Jefferson: Hello, Galaxy, I'm your host...Fraaaaank Jefferson! Today, our very own Barry Bramble will be interviewing Eternal Emperor Abernoth! Well, he previously interviewed the Emperor earlier today, so let's play the footage! GTV News at Five intro would play Barry: Hello, Emperor, I'm Barry Bramblethorn with GTV News at Five. I'm here to ask you some questions. How's your day been? Abernoth: *Is for once not in power-armor but a decorated suit, like something you'd expect a modern Emperor to wear.* It's been decent. Barry: So first we have a question that comes from our /viewers/. It's, um, how did you misinterpret that Gamma wanted to reform /your/ Empire into a Republic despite the fact he explicitly stated it was his /Resistance/ he wanted to reform? Abernoth: Because regardless of what he says it means the same thing. He wants to separate the Union by forcing worlds that have no interest in succeeding from us to join him, because he knows if he goes off on his own to try and inspire other colonies in lawless space they would laugh at him. I offered him and his rebels a chance to simply leave Imperial Space. Barry: But what about other rebel populations hoping to perhaps separate from their governments? Abernoth: There's not much rebel activity, not in the inner core of the Empire. The outer regions, some which have only joined recently, are facing some protests by the populace. That always happens. Hardcore rebellion activity is minimal, and they're actively being dealt with for committing terrorism. We don't restrict immigration out of Imperial Space, so if people were unhappy on their worlds, they would leave. Instead, some elected to kill their domestic militaries and make their leaders enact martial law. Obviously we do not bend to terrorists. Barry: And what about the issue of the Empire setting up puppet governments? Abernoth: Not really puppet governments. That would assume we kill and then replace leaderships. That's rarely the case. Take Luna Centaurii, the king died and the rightful prince felt it would be wise to join the imperial union; he was killed for it. Barry: Alright, sounds reasonable. But are you aware that some independent governments /have/ allied with Gamma and are aiding him? Abernoth: I am. And it's unwise for independent governments to interfere with my territories. Barry: They fear you, and speaking of which; how do you respond to the criticism that the Empire is using ways that should have been abolished centuries ago? Abernoth: Mixing up monarch imperialism with fascism is a mistake. Unlike most other societies, our citizens live in utopias, some of which no longer even have a need to use pixels as a currency, disease rates are low, deaths are rare and almost always by choice, and poverty is so rare you don't even see it. To keep that society the way it is, laws have to be enforced. Thinking and rationale are encouraged. The only people that get punished are the ones who commit the crimes. We've sent scout droids to many worlds only for them to come back to me with definite data that the old way does not work. Changing policies would be rolling back to a time where things were much more uncertain. Besides, we're not killing people with sledgehammers unlike these rebels. Barry: Hm. Well thank you for your time! Frank: We contacted Gamma to get his opinion on the now-famous 'Sledgehammer murder'; here's /my/ interview with him. Frank: So did you know what was going to happen after you left? Gamma: Standard execution, they'd been tried as loyalists. Some had denounced people as Resistance members. Frank: What was your first thought when you saw the full footage? Gamma: I was horrified but I quickly calmed myself. The Empire's done far worse acts and are likely committing such acts as we speak. Frank: What do you think about the brutality of the killing? Gamma: Are you aware of the 'Ten'? Frank: I am. Gamma: Ten people, all of whom had families. One of them, a fiance to one of the murdered, worked alongside me as a manager for our food supply. Frank: Go on... Gamma: She committed suicide yesterday. Frank: I'm sorry for your loss. Gamma: Be sorry for /everyone/ who has died oppressing the Empire. We've all lost friends and family in this fight. Sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers...lovers. Frank: And how do you plan to end the conflict? Gamma: Get my people out of Imperial territory. Over the last few days, a few independent planets and I have been working out territory for the Eternal Republic. Frank: Is it near Imperial space? Gamma: Close but not directly at its border. We seek to end this conflict with our mass migration. Our government will keep our of Empire affairs and vice versa. Frank: And what about areas that may still fight the Empire after the migration? Gamma: I pray there won't be any of that... Frank: And that ends our segment tonight...next! Combustible lemons and you, what happens when someone tries to burn /your/ house down! And now cut to commercials |

*Lana changes the channel after the news report reaches half-way, especially after Gamma started speaking, sighing sadly. She wasn't interested in politics anymore. The concept of explaining yourself on the media also didn't appeal to the blonde anymore. To Lana: she just wanted to help stop any future rebellions. She switched the channels, looking for a music channel- but ended up coming across the Dancebound 3189 Championships and wondered what the Hell Dancebound was.* |
