Welcome to my![]() GIMP Tutorial Step 1. Open a new canvas and fill it with black : ![]() Step 2. Add a new layer : [no image] Step 3. Make a "FG to Transparent" gradient from bottom to top (or top to bottom if you have the "Reverse" box checked) on the new layer using the main color you want your fire to be : ![]() Step 4. [Filters » Distorts » IWarp] make curves that go up using the "Swirl"s on the 2nd layer: ![]() ![]() Step 5. Redo Step 2 [no image] Step 6. Redo Step 3 using the 2nd color on the 3rd layer (bottom to middle) : ![]() Step 7.Redo Step 4 on the 3rd layer : ![]() ![]() Step 8. Merge Visible Layers : [no image] Step 9. Duplicate Layer : [no image] Step 10. [Layer » Colors » Desaturate] on the background copy : ![]() Step 11. [Edge-Detect » Edge...] on the desaturated layer : ![]() ![]() Step 12.
