After a teenager has a terrifying vision of him and his friends dying in a plane crash, he prevents the accident only to have Death hunt them down, one by one.

The atmosphere in this one was never matched.
Pmuch. The drop in quality was so real with the sequels. :wiig:

All the movies have their own unique atmosphere while still feeling like a Final Destination film (Minus 4) I think :wiig: which I actually like tbh.

When you walk into the room. You pull me close and we start to move
And we're spinning with the stars above. And you lift me up in a wave of love
Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first. We'll make heaven a place on earth

But none of them rly amount to the questions that this one delves into about the fragility of life & the afterlife, the suspicion from outside forces that no doubt would occur in the event of one of these, or the lead who tried his damnedest to make sure ppl would listen/survive, even if it was fairly futile, & despite my love for Ali/Clear, the fact they didn't try to bring Devon/Alex back shows how little they cared about the story & were instead more invested in being body count films (ESPECIALLY in the case of 3/4). I don't have any issue with body count films, because, just look @ my love for the Friday The 13th franchise, but I think more care could've been put into the productions of the sequels to be more reminiscent of ANOES than that considering how surreal the plot is.

Except, they did try to bring Devon/Alex back, didn't they? :rip: I always heard the reason he didn't return was because he didn't want/wasn't able to be in the second film. Which is why they decided to kill off his charrie & make Clear the "lone survivor" of the first. It made sense imo in that fact. As for the suspicion from outside forces, It kinda makes sense why it was never brought up again. It's not so much "abandoning" that entire aspect of the film as much as it's simply not really needed anymore.

In 2, it's a pile up which is far easier for the police/FBI/whatever to actually determine what happened. For 3, it's a Roller Coaster (and there's surely security cameras all around the park/coaster assuring Wendy wasn't fucking w/the coaster herself). Then 4 is pretty self explanatory as to why it wasn't suspicious. And 5, (well it's been a while) but the sheer size of the disaster alone makes me think it's unlikely that he'd be suspicious. Especially when they study the bridge & determine whether it was destroyed intentionally. I mean, in 1 it makes sense why people would suspect Alex. The plane blew up & was far more difficult for the authorities to pinpoint what happened.

But if we're talking suspecting the visionary of actually being killers it's more of a stretch, I guess. :borde: I do get that they DID become more of a body count series, which I honestly don't mind since the characters are still likable/better than most slashers.

Personally, I think this film's mystery angle was one of the best things about it, but it really only could've worked once. With a sequel, you already know what to expect, so the tension lessens accordingly. This is a series I thought actually came into its own once it became a body-count slasher.

That said, I do really like the original film, though I don't particularly love it by any means. Alex and Clear were great characters who are probably half the reason this movie works as well as it does, and to a lesser extent, so was Carter. I also liked how they occasionally did fakeouts on some of the kill sequences, so you didn't know if they were gonna bite it. That said, some of the other side characters were pretty meh (especially the federal agents; I think they were only there because this was originally written as an X-Files episode with those two supposed to be Mulder and Scully), and some of the foreshadowing was pretty blatant (especially for the plane crash and for Billy's death). I don't think I'd call it my favorite in the series, but it's definitely my second favorite.

My full review is here.
KEEP AMERICA GREAT

I like all of them, but this one is my fave (don't remember much about the 5th - only watched once). The opening makes me sad too because of the disabled guy and there is at least one baby :(

The bathroom scene used to freak me out lol. For a while I was paranoid every time I would have to go in mine :/

This one is randomly kinda underrated I think. I always see people ranking it fairly low in the series :(
