In this third installment of the Final Destination series, a student's premonition of a deadly rollercoaster ride saves her life and a lucky few, but not from death itself which seeks out those who escaped their fate.

When you walk into the room. You pull me close and we start to move
And we're spinning with the stars above. And you lift me up in a wave of love
Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first. We'll make heaven a place on earth

Three films into my Final Destination series rewatch, and so far I'd rank this one as my favorite, followed by the first and then the second. I definitely agree that it brought back the atmosphere that the second film was lacking, while at the same time, it kept the second film's improved kills. Wendy is also up there with Clear and Alex as far as protagonists in this series go, between Mary Elizabeth Winstead's performance and how the whole movie is basically her downward spiral as she loses control of everything around her; she's not much of a heroine per se, but she's still a great character. It combined everything good about the first and second films and little of the bad, and the tone was really the only sticking point for me. At its best, the combination of a very dark plot with a streak of black comedy gave it a very twisted, carnival-like atmosphere, like something out of the Insane Clown Posse's better songs; at its worst, though, it kind of cut into the stakes of the film. Still, until I get to rewatching the fifth film to refresh my memory, I'm calling this my favorite.

My full review is here.

Only problem now is that the next film is the fourth...

Yaas Kevin, absolutely love the review. Very much agree with everything you said, especially about MEW. Also agree on the 9/11 mention being very tasteless.

Good luck with 4 :)

that fucking 9/11 scene was tasteless and extra af. Why not just show the previous disasters? Like when was it ever necessary to bring up a real tragedy and it make a form of a fictional plot? exactly, none.

I'm probably remembering this wrong, but didn't they use actual footage of a plane wreckage in the first movie? I feel like someone mentioned the footage Alex watches on TV being real but I'm honestly not sure

The 9/11 mention is actually based off a real picture from a 1979 airline ad. :teriwhat:

As is the picture of Abe Lincoln. I can see why someone would consider it "tasteless" to bring it up but they both come from true alleged and pre-existing "predictions" and urban legends so them being brought up isn't exactly shocking to me.
