Leatherface (2016?)

So, there's another Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie coming out, this one a prequel focusing on the man who became Leatherface. It's being directed by the makers of Inside, Angela Bettis will be playing the mother of the Sawyer family, and according to this report, the script will have it so that two characters are set up to become Leatherface, only one of whom actually grabs a chainsaw at the end.

They had me at Angela Bettis. Even if the rest of the movie is awful, I haven't yet seen her deliver a bad performance. (Not even the 2002 Carrie remake.) And it can't be worse than Texas Chainsaw 3D... can it?

Well no January release date. Or any release date at all.

I think this will be good (or not out right awful) because they learned their lesson with 3D. The directors are a step up and the script got some good buzz. If not then Leatherface can join Pinhead and the Tall Man in horror franchise purgatory.

I follow someone on Twitter who said they've seen the movie (I think they are producer/in the industry) and they said it's like an art-house film and it'll surprise people, which is... interesting.

Have to be honest. Never been sold on the movie because the last one was ABYSMAL and a teenage Leatherface origin story just sounds kinda dumb, but after reading that tweet I'm intrigued at least.

Updated the OP with the new poster.

Given the talent involved in both the cast and crew, right now I have my fingers crossed for this not being terrible. The idea of an arthouse Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie is weird, but I can roll with it.

2 be fair, this is probz 1 of the more interesting-sounding horror prequels, so it's just a matter of whether it will serve or not :letsnot:
