Forgive us, Father, for we have sinned
Brooklyn Stevens sits in a pool of her own blood, tied up and gagged. No one outside of these dank basement walls knows she’s here. No one can hear her scream.

Sofia Flores knows she shouldn’t have gotten involved. When she befriended Riley, Grace, and Alexis on her first day at school, she admired them, with their perfect hair and their good-girl ways. They said they wanted to save Brooklyn. They wanted to help her. Sofia didn’t realize they believed Brooklyn was possessed.

Now, Riley and the girls are performing an exorcism on Brooklyn—but their idea of an exorcism is closer to torture than salvation. All Sofia wants is to get out of this house. But there is no way out. Sofia can’t go against the other girls . . . unless she wants to be next. . . .

In this chilling debut, Danielle Vega delivers blood-curdling suspense and terror on every page. By the shockingly twisted end, readers will be faced with the most haunting question of all: Is there evil in all of us?
You know what they say about judging a book by its cover? Well, a book with a cover that pink shouldn't be this fucked-up.

A lot of the reviews I read of this on Goodreads, good and bad, compared this to a horror movie version of Mean Girls. It's from Alloy, the publisher that brought us Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, so I was expecting a fairly lightweight teen horror novel. I definitely wasn't expecting the sort of torture porn that was in this book. It's low-brow, pretty trashy, and not a particularly smart book (the characters were pretty thinly-written for the most part), but it definitely had me going. The ending especially threw me for a loop. I couldn't imagine what some of the scenes in this would look like in a movie, especially one towards the end.

I definitely recommend checking it out, at least as a campy page-turner.

Oh, and it's being made into a movie.

Not sure if it should be exciting or off-putting that it's being penned by the creator of Pretty Little Liars. I'mma lean towards exciting, since while the series has def. overstayed it's welcome by being dragged out several seasons, it's at least...entertaining? From what I've seen.

When you walk into the room. You pull me close and we start to move
And we're spinning with the stars above. And you lift me up in a wave of love
Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first. We'll make heaven a place on earth
