A continuation of the saga created by George Lucas set thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983).

The originals, especially Empire Strikes Back, are the shit. The prequels are an acquired taste and knowing what Lucas was trying to do gives me a minute more respect for him and the films, but are mostly shit. I loved TFA, but it had flaws that I see are just as bad/equal to that of the originals, especially Return of the Jedi. I just think this one gets more flack being as it wasn't as original as the originals and was hyped the hell up. It's relative.
Originality wasn't even an issue 4 me in this case rly, the newbies were honest 2 God garbage becuz Rey was nothing but a big Mary Sue prancing around w/ her bironic characteristics that I could've been more 4 if it didn't become more glaring as the film went along, Finn was an underdeveloped, annoying melt that freaked over practically every little thing, & Poe was basically nothing aside from being a pilot & I can't rly fathom y ppl have grown so attached 2 them already when there's barely anything 2 them @ all whatsoever, which doesn't even begin 2 cover my issues w/ the lack of any sort of development or feeling of threat coming from the antagonists; there were far 2 many filling spaces & not enough actually doing things worthwhile. :boredney:
I get that. Those are among my faults with it and I could've done without the second death star thing again and that was also among my problems and consistently the issue I hear brought up.

However, this is Star Wars, I love it, but I know what it is. This series is a mess and while I want it to be taken as seriously as possible, I'm okay with it when they are inevitably cliche, superficial or outright illogical at times. I found the film fun enough to get over Chewie and Leia not embracing and comforting one another, etc. Etc.

I could pick apart a bunch of stupid annoying shit in all three trilogies, so far.

Characters are subjective, at least when it comes to Finn. I liked him. He didn't bug me(only when he killed his comrades when the whole reason he was dissenting was because of a killed comrade in the first place), but he bugged you for your reasons.

People love Han and Leia. I cannot stand her and Han often had that corny white man bravado that Harrison Ford does, but appreciate them apart of the series and am still thrilled they came back.

This movie was overhyped and people, psychologically, want to rebel and not conform in the safest ways possible. It's our nature. I hated hearing about Avatar(not nearly as hyped nor with brand power like Star Wars) and when it finally came out, I didn't enjoy it. I have my reasons, but I know the marketing played a role in my opinion of it. As marketing often does, I wind up hating things that are shoved in my face.

This came out on Blu Ray yesterday for those, like me, who loved the shit out of this<3 since so many people seem to not be aware of it from who I talked to yesterday.

Got the target special edition with the best packaging and the 20 minutes of extra bonus features holla!
