Fatal Frame, known as Project Zero in Europe and Zero (零 zero?) in Japan, is a supernatural, survival horror video game series developed by Tecmo and Grasshopper Manufacture for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The first game, Fatal Frame, was released on 13 December 2001, and since then several sequels and spin-offs have spawned from it.

Games in the series typically use both a third-person perspective and a first-person perspective, and revolve around the use of a Camera Obscura (射影機 / しゃえいき Shaeiki?) to explore abandoned ruins and fend off hostile ghosts.

The Fatal Frame series is recognized for its unique gameplay mechanics, tense atmosphere and quirkiness, and a few games in the series are considered to be some of the best survival horror games ever made. While Tecmo Koei remains the sole owner of the Fatal Frame / Project Zero IP and franchise, Nintendo co-owns the rights to Fatal Frame IV, the Spirit Camera spin-off, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition, Fatal Frame V and all future installments of the series.

A film based on the video game series, Gekijōban Rei ~Zero~, was released on 26 September 2014.

“I’m getting seriously tired of saving your life.”
I've awkwardly only played the Wii game (it was when my Wii had a lot of downloaded games on it, and I got an english version of the game) and it REALLY scared me so I stopped :)

There are two Wii games, so I'm not sure if you're referring too Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse or Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly. I've played neither, sadly, but I want too. They both look fantastic and really creepy.

My ranking of the games (both the ones I've played and the three I've only seen Let's Plays of) would have to be...

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly > Fatal Frame III: The Tormented/Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse > Fatal Frame: Deep Crimson Butterfly (Wii) > Fatal Frame > Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir (this may go higher on the list once I've finished the Let's Play I'm watching of it.)

I need to watch a Let's Play of Fatal Frame: The Raven-Haired Shrine Maiden. I can't place it in the rank cause I know legit nothing about it beyond what the characters look like :poordat:

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly was the first time I ever truly nope'd at a game. Silent Hill 2 came close, but the part where you lost the camera... especially how you lost it... I don't think I slept that night.

I really need to replay these.
