Spy (2015) Rated R for language throughout, violence, and some sexual content including brief graphic nudity ![]() Just saw this last night, and holy shit did I laugh my ass off. If this is what Melissa McCarthy is capable of when she isn't doing crap like Identity Thief and Tammy, then I really hope she starts picking out better roles, because she was hysterical in this. She actually played a real character for once, and she stole the show. Paul Feig does a great job on the other side of the camera, too, giving McCarthy a lot to do and also doing some surprisingly good action scenes. The supporting cast was also great, especially Rose Byrne as a Bond girl villain and Jason Statham basically parodying himself. My only real problem was with the plot, which was pretty generic and got convoluted towards the end, but it wasn't that big a problem. Overall, it's probably the funniest movie of the year so far. My full review is here. |
