Julia becomes worried about her boyfriend, Holt, when he explores the dark urban legend of a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after viewing. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a "movie within the movie" that no one has ever seen before.

I think the ring films have a very distinct feel to them that this fails to match. Say what you want about The Ring Two but it at least fits that atmosphere. This just looks like an attempt to appeal to young people made even clearer by the fact that the cast is so young compared to the original!

When you walk into the room. You pull me close and we start to move
And we're spinning with the stars above. And you lift me up in a wave of love
Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth? Ooh heaven is a place on earth
They say in heaven love comes first. We'll make heaven a place on earth

I disagree about it not looking like a Ring film and it looks way better than Sadako vs Kayako.

I loved seeing the trailer for this with Don't Breathe because it looked very cinematic, we'll shot, and had a larger scale than most PG-13 films recently. I also think it's obvious their misleading the audience with the plane bit which was already reported as being the opening.
The plane scene looks better suited as an ending, for sequel possibilities. I don't know how it'll be the opening when one of the mains is seen on the plane unless he sees the tape first or something, but isn't his girlfriend the one who Samara is after anyways? :kiahuh:

Let's get to work!
The cast of the first movie >>> none in this look like they come close to matching Rachel's actress , talent wise.
Your first impression of me may be that I am a terrible person

The entire plane scene is a bit ridiculous because unless everyone in the plane saw it a week earlier or the tape takes less than 7 days, everyone but the lead would have to survive the crash. I doubt samara would bother taking down a whole plane just to kill someone

I think the scene will play out with the couple trying to escape or whatever but the tape goes viral on the plane and the couple end up dying & the survivors die 7 days later, since it'd fit with a sequel set up.

The scene looks so dumb tho, I'll see the film anyways

It's been confirmed that the plane sequence was the cold opening at Wondercon 2016 and if you look at the trailer again you'll notice that the guy running away isn't played by Alex Roe (the male lead). It's just another character that is at the end of his 7 days like in the first 2 films. And I don't think that the plane sequence is going to go completely down since it doesn't fit the description of the clip shown at Wondercon either.

Yeah I remember the Wondercon thing. I definitely think the plane scene is the opening. I just wish they didn't show so much.

I honestly don't know why I am so hopeful or rooting for this but I just am. I feel like it's been one of those films that has been within reach for so long that I just want it even if it sucks.

Ugh same. I've been waiting for a new Ring movie for YEARS as a fan of the franchise. I'm so excited even though it looks meh.

I thought that Aimee would be the opening, but at least it seems like she'll have a more sizable role. So I am a little more interested.

This doesn't look entirely good, nor am I a fan of the series (or Grudge's for that matter). But I somewhat like the original film.
