Can't wait for this.

I really need to sit down with the entire Alien franchise one of these days. The original is still the best so it's nice to hear him say they'll "go back into the back door of the very first Alien."

Look around you. Kind of amazing, isn't it?
One day there is going to be 4 Prometheus movies to get to Alien and then a few days later this happens, does Ridley Scott even know what's happening or is he just fucking with everybody.
This doesn't have to be a day of sadness.

I can kinda care less since he made a big deal about making Prometheus different, only to say, "Oh, ya'know what, we are gonna be doing more Alien stuff for the sequel," when it was a different story until Blomkamp came along. :boredney:

Yeah, this whole "Alien cinematic universe" idea (which is what all of this reeks of) just feels like desperation on the part of 20th Century Fox, especially given that they kind of shot dead one of their only two superhero franchises this past summer.

At least Damon Lindelof seems to be nowhere near it.

They released a synopsis and confirmed that Covenant will be the title.

"Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

This doesn't have to be a day of sadness.
