I only know his last name, Henderson. We got some bad blood between us over the summer, got in a brawl in the hospital. The memory of the fight brought a faint smile to his lips. And then when I came into class, he was there, talking tough and just pissing me the hell off.. The smile disappeared. Next time we fight, no one's gonna save him, I'll make sure of that. he growled. |

Noire smirked, a dainty snort echoing in the hall. This kid seemed to be bite and bark, which was important. Too many people talked about doing things they never did. "I'd be careful, John," she replied, her brows lowering over her eyes, "The key is not getting caught." Noire sighed and glanced down the hallway. Suddenly her eyes caught something that had fallen out of her bag - a pair of rolled up ballet tights. She stooped down quickly and scooped them up, shoving them into her bag and hoping Reno hadn't seen. |

Oh, I won't John said, smiling impishly. He was distracted as something fall out of Noire's bag and she swooped down to pick it up, obviously not wanting him to see whatever it was. Unfortunately, that only made him more curious. Hey, what was that? he asked, leaning forward as if it would help. And don't say nothing, or none of my business, cos that doesn't stop me. |

Noire made sure to stuff the tights down low in her bag. She looked up at Reno and shrugged. She had been a dancer - in fact, she had loved being a dancer - since she was five, but dancing was such a silly profession. She'd much rather join the ministry like her father and try to make the necessary changes from the top down. "How about if I say . . . hmm, bite me?" she replied sneakily, smiling sweetly at the boy. "Anyway, I don't even think you know my name. Why should I let you see my - most personal belongings?" |

I know your first name, Noire, John said with a grin. He wasn't stupid, he was pretty good at names. Even though he wasn't incredibly social, he still knew the first names of most of the Slytherins in his year. Fair enough though, I won't keep asking. But I'll probably find out sooner or later.. He winked. And it's been my experience that you should never ask people to bite you.. it's tempting the irony gods. |

She smirked and tried not to laugh. Lucien had told her not to talk about this with anyone, but it was just too appropriate. "You do know there's a werewolf running around, don't you?" Noire asked, lowering her voice so that her French accent was hardly even noticeable. "My father had the privilege of overhearing Potter in his office." The girl blinked her doe eyes innocently, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. |

John almost had a panic attack when Noire mentioned a werewolf, and just barely managed to contain it. Did everyone know about that now? Of course he knew about it, the werewolf in question was his best friend, and he also knew if she was found out, everything would go to hell. Is there, really? he asked, deciding to play dumb for the time being. Getting angry and telling Noire to shut up about it would only look suspicious, he figured. |

Noire nodded a bit more enthusiastically than she had intended. She loved to bring up gossip and surprise people with what she knew. She felt it gave her the upper hand. Noire leaned closer to Reno to continue the conversation, wanting to keep it on the down low. "There is! I don't know who, but I heard there was an attack on a student - and by the looks of everyone, I would guess it was either that little Puff with the black eye or the kid on the crutches. What do you think?" Noire watched Reno expectantly. |

The Puff with the black eye was mine, John said lightly. That's Henderson, the kid I told you about. He knew the kid with the crutches, he never heard his name, really was Cassie's victim, but if he kept going on with this gossip, things would start to fall apart. I know the crutches kid a bit, too. He's a complete clutz, so I bet he just walked in front of a train or something. He looks stupid enough. A complete lie, of course, but if he could get Noire off the scent, then it didn't matter. |

Noire shook her head at Reno's response. "Like I said, the school is full of bloody idiots . . ." His ploy had worked, this time. Noire sighed and tucked a strand of hair behind a perfect ear. "But werewolves are so boring anyway. Let's talk about something more . . . intriguing." Noire smirked, lowering her chin a bit and looking quickly left and right. "How about that kid they found by the lake?" she hissed. |

Tell me about that, John said, relieved with the change of subject. He'd heard some whispers about a murder, but didn't know any details. I'm trapped in the Muggle world during the summers, so I don't know anything about what happens then. Who was it? Did they find whoever did it? He wasn't into gossip normally, but it was an interesting subject, and Noire seemed good at pulling people in. |

Noire grabbed the elbow of John's sleeve and pulled him with her into a shadowed nook, hidden from the dark hallway. Her large eyes reflected what little light there was in the small space. "Well," she began in little more than a whisper, speaking quickly, "Father said it was some kid named Owens. No idea who that is, he was in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff or something. Anyway," Noire took a deep breath before continuing, "Apparently they found him near the forest, absolutely covered in blood," she said with a bit too much excitement, "Or at least dead. No idea what happened, but Father says he suspects there's a new group of Voldemort supporters and they're finally getting their vengeance," Noire finished proudly. |

Wow, John said, unable to think of much else to say. Things were obviously heating up around here. He didn't know the whole story about Voldemort, but from the way Noir had said it, he had obviously been a pretty scary guy if he still had murderous supporters running around. But why would anyone go after a student? he mused. You'd think it'd be someone more important, right? |

Noire shrugged her pale shoulders slightly, a satisfied look on her face. "I only know what I've been told - who knows, maybe this kid was like, the next Harry Potter." Noire had no more of an idea than Reno, but she could speculate. "Or maybe someone just wanted to make a point." Noire yawned and leaned against the cold wall of the cavernous recess. "Anyway, a student died and now the ministry is in a right tizzy. It's all very exciting." The girl had a way of sounding as if she were full of ennui, even when speaking of things that interested her. |

It is pretty exciting, John agreed. You think there'll be more attacks? If there were, John had no idea what he'd do in that kind of situation, but he knew he wouldn't be content to stay in the sidelines. It was just too much excitement for him to stay uninvolved. |
