Hello, and welcome to The Life After! Feel free to have a look around and get a feel for us here at TLA. We accept everyone here be you a beginner, intermediate, or an advanced RPer, you're all welcomed here. We don't have any of those ridiculous word counts so don't feel too bad if you can't dish out a book every time you post. It's quite alright!
THE NEWEST SITE PLOT HERE AT TLA IS THE HOGWARTS HOUSE CHAMPIONSHIP PLOT!
This room, dark, blood red walls. This room, black carpet... Black bed, black canopy. ..and a black dresser. There is no window... No light, except the red lamp... ...and the red candles on the dresser. Whoever has this room... ...wishes to be alone.
Lara tossed in turned in her bed. She knew that sleep was unnecessary for her now, but the same habit, and the silk sheets were too tempting. 'Goddamn..I miss sleep..', she rolled over again, her soft hair grazing her smooth skin of her face. She finally opened her eyes, and stared at her reflection in the long black mirror. She still couldn't get over how beautiful she looked now, though that was how all vampires look. She heaved a sighed and crawled from her bed, walking over to the dresser and lighting the red candles, and she stared at her reflection again. Unbelieveable. Her pale skin showed not a flaw. Her hair was a tad bit darker, and her eyes changed to a reddish brown hue. And the fangs...well, she hid those as best as she could.
RJ was excited to be back from Egypt, but at the same time, he missed the exotic country. The term at Hogwarts was about to begin again, and before long, he would be swamped with schooling and his new prefect duties. He worried that he would be too busy to spend any quality time with his cousin over the term, and she wasn't happy with him before he left for Egypt, so RJ wanted to do everything in his power to make things right before the term started. He decided to pay her a visit, even before he unpacked from the trip.
RJ pranced to her bedroom door and knocked on it twice. He couldn't wait to see her face (that is is she was surprised to see him), and he couldn't wait to tell her all about the trip and hear about her summer.
Lara had heard the footsteps all the way down the hall. She heard the heartbeat, and the blood flow... though she wasn't expecting them to stop at her door. 'Hm? That breathing...". She was dressed in her jeans and just a red t-shirt with a band logo on it. She checked herself in the mirror. She looked far different, more beautiful. And her eyes, her skin tone, hair, and just body all together. She smirked and walked to the door. "Yeah?", her voice also sounded more elegant than before, and she wondered if the mystery human would notice the voice, because they would definately reconize the new acquired beauty.
Lara opened the door, keeping her mouth closed to hide the short fangs. She reconized her cousin instantly, and smiled. "RJ?", she tilted her head to the side, careful not to exopse her fangs. 'Wonder what he's thinking? Don't breath..'. Though the temptation was too strong, and she took a long, deep breath through her nose, letting the blood scent of human fill her nostrils before she turned back into her room, lighting a vanilla insense on her dresser.
RJ was expecting LAra to throw her arms around his neck as she ususally did ... But she didn't. Was she still upset about the news of his adoption? Was she feeling so bad about it now that she wouldn't hug her one and only cousin? It saddended RJ a bit, but he had no time to dwell on his thoughts before he noticed how different Lara looked. "Wow, Lara!" He began, fighting for the proper words to say. "You look ... Incredible! Almost like a new girl." It was true, Lara looked completely different, but RJ wasn't sure if he liked it or not. A new look often meant a new personality, and RJ liked Lara the way he knew her. He hoped she hadn't changed.
Once again, he had no time to dwell on his thoughts, because he noticed that Lara's bedroom was completely redecorated. His hazel eyes widened, and his jaw dropped as he looked around at all of the red and black decorations, the candles, everything looked dark, and almost eerie. "When did you remodel? Don't you like turquiose anymore?" There no doubt now, Lara had changed. RJ braced himself for whatever surprises he would be hit with next.
Lara smiled, keeping her face to the inscense burning. Hopefully, this would overlap the human blood smell a little. She had only fed on animals, but she dearly craved the blood of the living. "Why? You don't like?", she kept her voice low. "I got a new room. No window.", she explained, glancing around the room with her sharp eyes. "Lost the glasses...", she pointed to her face. It was hard not to expose her teeth, harder than she thought.
"Oh, no! It's not that I don't like it. It's just ... Different." RJ replied shrugging his shoulders and hoping that his reaction hadn't offended his cousin. "If I didn't know you, I would guess that you're a Gryffindor!" He stated with a nervous chuckle.
RJ leaned in only a little closer, and looked deep into Lara's eyes. It was different to see her eyes without looking into her glasses. Very different. "It must be nice now that you don't have to clean them so often." He said, forcing a smile.
With that, RJ shoved his hands into his pockets and continued to look around the windowless room. "So, is this what you have been working on all summer?"
Lara smiled through her lips, still her gaze away from RJ. She hoped the darkened, yet dimmed room would lesson her chances of him finding out about her. "You could say that..", she turned her gaze back to him, and stared into his eyes for a moment. She wondered if she should tell him or not, then she took another deep breath, and decided against it. It was best to keep things like this a secret against all mortals. Always. And if they ever were to find out... She nearly shuddered at the thought. Lara's pupils dialted and she smirk, then walked passed him, gently brushing his bare skin against hers. She almost stopped in her tracks, and she glanced back at him, wondering if he had felt her dead, cold skin.
RJ's brow furrowed as Lara continued to speak and act ... Strangely. It was beginning to worry RJ, but he didn't want her to know that just yet, so he decided to try and carry a normal conversation with her. "So, apart from changing your room around and such, what have you been up to this summer?"
RJ stopped and shoved his hands deep into his pockets. He was beginning to feel nervous being around Lara, which is what he did not want to be around his one and only cousin.
Lara sighed with relief when RJ didn't seem to notice her cold skin and she turned back to him, her eyes staring into his. She took another deep breath, enjoying the smell. Lucky for him, she had a feeding on a boar just that night, so she wasn't so thirsty at the moment. "Why so curious?", she asked as she turned away from him toward her dresser.
RJ raised a curious eyebrow at Lara's response. He was beginning to wonder who exactly he was talking to ... His cousin, or someone else? RJ wanted to be optomistic, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was different ... Perhaps wrong. "Are you dodging the question?" He asked, before giving himself a mental slap in the face. He didn't mean to ask that outloud, but perhaps it was better that he did to get answers out of Lara. She was acting so strangely, and he wanted to know why. RJ raised his eyebrows and looked intently at Lara, keeping a soft expression on his face, hoping with all of his heart that she wouldn't find any offense in his question.
Lara's head instantly jerked up and she stared straight into her cousin's eyes. She thought about answering her cousin, and telling him the truth. But this wasn't a whole "father beat me" situation. This was life changing, and this was a secret she intended to keep, at least to people she didn't plan on preying. Her pupils dialated as she let in his scent once more, and she turned away from him. "How's the new home?", she asked. Her voice was much softer and elegant than it used to be. Much more beautiful, and she wondered if her cousin noticed that next to her physical change.
"She's dodging my questions!" RJ thought to himself, taken aback by Lara's strange new behaviour. But he wouldn't dare tell her how he felt about it, not while he was already walking on thin ice. RJ figured that for now it would be best to let her take the lead of the conversation, and to simply follow along. In response to her question, he shrugged his shoulders. "The adoption isn't official, so I haven't even moved in yet." RJ paused and let a smile come to his face. "That means we'll have at least another Christmas break together. And even if I wasn't living here for Christmas, you know you would be more than welcome to come over and spend it with us."
Lara turned away. She had to hint around somehow. This was her freaking cousin! Her emotions were clouding around horribly at the moment. When she was human, she could trust her cousin with her life. Her eyes clouded up a little and she shook it away. She hadn't gotten this emotional while being a vampire. Her heart had hardened up from all mortals. "I don't think that's a possibility. Things have changed...". She kept her hair over most of her face, and her head low and shadowed. Fangs were hard to hide!
RJ's jaw dropped open slightly at Lara's response. Did she feel so strongly about him being adopted that she didn't want to be around him and his soon to be mother ... Or was it something else? RJ wasn't quite sure, and he didn't know how to react. After standing in silence for a moment, he forced a grin to his lips. "C'mon, Lara ... " He began with a nervous chuckle "Think of how cool it would be to spend another Christmas with me and your soon to be aunt."
With that, RJ stretched out his arm to give her a playful nudge as he always did. But when his forearm came in contact with hers, he recoiled at once. Panic quickly set in as he wondered why Lara's skin felt the way it did. "Lara, you're freezing cold!" He exclaimed, reaching back out and gently grasped her wrist. Chills were sent from his finger tips to his shoulder as Lara's cold skin came in contact with the palm of his hand. But not only did her skin feel cold ... It felt unnatural, almost lifeless. With wide eyes RJ looked up at his cousin, a concerned expression on his face.
