MJ had never been a big fan of History so she always dreaded this one particular class. She also was never the type to fall asleep in a class but History bored her so and she was guilty of snoozing a few times. She'd heard however that this year there was a new teacher. This peaked her interest slightly. She was always excited when new teachers arrived but she still couldn't suppress the fact that she strongly disliked History. She walked as slowly as she could through the corridors in order to prolong her meeting with the subject, though of course not slow enough to make her late. MJ never liked being late to anything. She eventually made it to the class room door and walked over the threshold. She was the first one there, as normal. She saw the new professor at his desk and gave him a smile and a nod then walked to her seat. |

Vivienne walked into the History of Magic class room with her school bag slung over one shoulder. She dropped into a seat near the back of the class and waited for the professor to begin teaching. She was not looking forward to being here but it was something she had to pass. And so here she was waiting and picking at her nails out of boredom. |

Madeline shrugged into the classroom, as usual she had a less than enthusiastic attitude when it came to class. There were so many better things she could be doing with her time. Like working on her Unforgivables on little cuddly forest animals, or polishing off her hexing skills. But instead she was cooped up in this stuffy castle with a bunch of slackers who were either going nowhere in life, or were mudbloods. Though the latter generally lead to the former. The only was Mad could even really tolerate History of Magic was because so many of her own ancestors were involved. Essentially, Madeline was a very vain girl, and loved anything that had to do with herself, so getting the chance to brag about her lineage was always a plus. |

Wiping tired eyes, Jacen slowly made his way into the classroom. It had been a long summer and he wasn't at all ready to start classes again. Looking around the room, he realized that he didn't know anyone that was here, not that that was a new thing. He didn't know many of the students in this school. He threw his bag down on the floor, taking a seat near the front of the room. |

Andrew sat at his desk and watched each of the students enter the room, this would be the first time he would actually teach a lesson at Hogwarts and the first History of Magic lesson since Professor Byfleet had left so unexpectedly. Drew was grateful that this day had come finally, he would be able to show of his extensive knowledge of wizarding history and highlight some of the highest points in the history of the wizarding world. He turned to the rest of the class and looked at each student individually, assessing them and judging each one as he stared them down. "Welcome to History of Magic," Andrew said standing up from his desk, "I am Professor Zabini, I'm sure some of you were expecting to see Professor Byfleet. Sorry to disappoint, but Professor Byfleet turned in his resignation as of last term. He will be missed as he was a grand teacher, but everyone must move on eventually. Now back to history of magic, I'm sure some of you associate History with dates and events and when things took place. That may have been how you were taught in the past, but History is much more than that. History is the legacy of life, without a past there is no future and without a future there is no present and thus no point to life. If you came here today expecting to memorize a bunch of dates and be tested on that, then you will be sorely disappointed." Andrew looked accross the room at all the students he had in his class, the only boy looked as if he'd just rolled out of bed. One of the girl's looked quite uninterested in anything going on in the class, another looked as if she was waiting for the class to be over, and the last one had a glint in her eye that looked as if she were slightly mad in the head. He looked at his class list to see the name of the girl with the look in her eye. Avery, now that was a name worth noting, a perfect person to pick on for an example. "Now as I said history is a legacy, and each person's family has a legacy, something to be proud of...," he started and came around to the front of his desk and leaned on the front of his desk, "Miss Avery, what is your family's claim to fame? What makes you so special? I am going to ask all of you students this question, it doesn't have to be anything magical or from the wizarding world for those of you who are muggleborn I'm sure there is something your parents or family has done in the past that's worthy of noting. It doesn't have to be good or positive, there are some families out there that are known for their dastardly deeds and infamous behavior. So Miss Avery again I ask, what makes you and your family so special?" |

Vivienne looked up from picking at her nails as the professor began to speak. She was happy to hear that the class was not going to be just a bunch of stupid dates and stuff she did not care about. Her eyes widened as she heard the question that the professor was asking everyone. She turned to Madeline to hear her answer but at the same time her mind was running a million miles per hour. What would she say when it was her turn? What family would she speak of? She had 5 parents it seemed and she still didn't know much about three of them. She swallowed hard and slid down a bit in her seat. She hoped and prayed to god she was not next. |

Madeline raised an eyebrow at the Professor, not at all minding being singled out in that fashion. "Take your pick." She smirked, resting her chin on her hand as she watched him in an amused fashion. "We trace our roots back as long as the Blacks and the Malfoys, my great grandfather invented the Auto-Answer Quill, and several of my family members fought in the battle of Hogwarts." Madeline's smirk turned somewhat smug as she leaned back in her chair, still watching Professor Zabini with a gaze of pure amusement. "Like I said, those are off the top of my head, take your pick." |
