This was it. His first class of the new year and it was first years. Usually that wouldn't be too bad. However, his own child was going to be in the first class. That was a little bit strange. He was a little bit afraid of what was going to happen, but he knew that he'd do his best to just ignore it and act like nothing wrong ever happened. None of the other kids needed to know that he was the father of another first year. That might go so well. That seemed like a sure fire way to embarrass his kid in front of anyone who might be paying attention. As the class piled in, he shuffled a few of the papers on his desk and grinned to himself. This was one of the few lessons that he didn't need notes for. Maybe it was because this all all pretty basic information. He had it all grained into his memory from years of talking about it and learning about it. He'd practiced some of his teaching on Max, so his son might be a little over prepared for all of this. "Hello class. Well, this is your first lesson in History of Magic. I'm the teacher, Professor Falls." While he spoke that, he swished his wand and the words were written on the board behind him. It was pretty nifty that he got to use magic whenever he felt like it in his class. Luckily he wouldn't even have to worry about his students hurting him with their magic either, because there shouldn't be any reason for them to be using their wands. Grinning, he was pleased with the thought that they wouldn't be hurting him on accident or anything like that. "Now this may seem like a boring class, because you can't use your wand or anything like that, but it is important information. You have to know about the past in order to predict how the future is going to go. There are also a bunch of cool wars and things like that. But we won't get there yet. First we have to learn the basics." You always have to run before you walk. "Now before we go any further, I want one of you to tell me who the four founders of Hogwarts are. I want first and last names. Don't raise your hands. If you know the answer, shout it out." OOC: I want the first person who posts to write up a short RP post and end it with their characters naming the four founders. Please remember, both first and last names. After that first person posts, wait for me to post again to finish up the lesson. |

Having dealt with his dad practice these lessons since he got the job at Hogwarts, Max knew just what his father was talking about. It also meant that Max knew the answers to his father's question. "Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw. They were the founders and each of them has their own house here in Hogwarts." Well, that was pretty basic. It was a shame that they couldn't be learning anything cooler in their first lesson. Then again, he was in a class taught by his father. If he really could have his way, he'd be placed in a different class. He'd always love his dad, but he didn't really want to be around the old man at the moment. The whole werewolf thing was a little bit of a downer in his life. |

It was kind of nice that the person who answered the question was his own kid. It proved that Max listened to him whenever he was talking over summer. Now, however, he was stuck in not knowing how to say that his son got the question right. Was he suppose to just go ahead and say 'thank you Mr. Falls?' That would pretty much let everyone know that they had the same last name. He didn't want his kid picked on or anything like that, but he did get it right. "Good job Mr. Falls. That would be ten house points to Hufflepuff." "Now, the four founders each made a house. It's pretty easy to figure out who founded which house. Everyone's last name corresponds to a house. However, Salazar Slytherin ended up leaving Hogwarts after he had some trouble getting along with the rest of the founders." "They started the school so that Wizarding kids wouldn't be forced to hide their magic. Everyone was a wizard of some kind and each person was sorted much like how the sorting happens now. Slytherin only wanted the pure bloods to be in the school, so when the other founders didn't agree to it, he left." That was a bit more information then they really needed at the moment. He grinned carefully and tried to think of if they needed to have homework or anything like that. "Alright, no homework tonight. Just read up on the founders." OOC: For this lesson just write your character listening in and taking notes. |

In the cornor of the room, a young hufflepuff quietly scribbled down the house founders. She drew a smiley face next to Helga because she founded the house that the girl was in. Next to Salazar she put a frowny face to indicate that he was bad, at least to her. Emilie, that name that she was called, knew that if Salzar had his way, she and her sister would not be at the school right now. Underneth the names she wrote in neat script, "Study" and drew an arrow that pointed to the names. The blonde smiled because these were the first notes that she had taken in Hogwarts and didn't mind how boring they were. |

Damon made his way into History of Magic. It was sure to be the most boring class. He had been dreading it all day. So, he took a seat in the back, ready to sleep through the day. The professor introduced himself as Professor Falls. Then, the torture began. The professor started his lecture. They were going to be learning about the Founders. As if anyone didn't know who the Founders were! He raised his hand when Professor Falls asked the students to name them. But, he wasn't called on. Instead, a small Hufflepuff boy answered. What the hell was a Hufflepuff, anyway? They were like the extra House. Anyone who wasn't a Slytherin, Gryffindor, or Ravenclaw was a Hufflepuff. Well, he'd heard they were excellent finders. "Good job Mr. Falls. That would be ten house points to Hufflepuff." What?! That wasn't fair. He had purposefully ignored Damon so that he could call on his son. Damon frowned. If that's how this class was going to be all year, he wasn't having any of it. The lecture continued. Damon knew all about the Founders, though he didn't agree with what the professor said about Salazar Slytherin. Damon would be all for a school for only purebloods. In fact, that's how it should be! Why did Mudbloods and blood traitors get to go to Hogwarts? If Damon had his way, he would kick them all out. Professor Falls dismissed them and Damon stood up. He had nothing to put away as he hadn't taken any notes. Then, a thought occured to him. Maybe he could befriend Maxwell Falls. That way, he would get a good grade in his father's class. Smiling at his own brilliance, Damon left the class. |

Lucas poked his head into the classroom before entering, just to be sure he'd found the right place. Sure enough, at the front of the classroom was a man whom, Luke was almost positive, was not a student. The fact that the other kids in the room appeared to about his age only confirmed his assumptions. So, he'd made it to the first HoM lesson. Quite eagerly, Lucas flopped into a seat close to the front, pulling a piece of parchment and a blue muggle pen (A gift from his mother) from his bag before setting it down on the ground. The class actually sounded pretty interesting to Lucas. He liked stories, and in Lucas' frame of mind that was all history was- A bunch of stories. Only, unlike his younger brother's stupid fairy tales, they were real stories about stuff that actually happened in the past, which, of course, made them the epitome of cool. When the Professor requested the information, the Ravenclaw opened his mouth to explain that Hogwarts had, indeed, been founded by the animals that were dubbed the mascots. However, Max beat him to the punch, and it was a good thing too, considering how off Luke's answer would have been. Blushing a little, Luke sunk down in his seat, scribbling down the four founders' names. He made a mental note to make his brother pay later for lying to him about. Seriously, he would PAY. If Lucas ever got really buff, and somehow got the guts... Right. Aaron totally would. Lucas was deterred from this thought, as the Professor addressed the student who had answered the question correctly. Falls...Falls...Was Falls not the professor's last name? Were they father and son? Cousins? Third cousins twice removed? He didn't think much of the situation. After all, the other boy had just saved him from a lifetime of embarrassment, and lots of stares, whether he knew it or not. For that, Lucas was thankful. Maybe having him the in the class would make it easier. He listened raptly as Professor Falls explained how the different houses were formed and why Salazar left. He didn't think he would really like to meet that guy. He sounded pretty harsh... Which really didn't make much sense to him, considering what Aaron always said about the Slytherin founder... Eh. Then again, his brother had been wrong before. Trying to shake this thought from his head, Lucas focused on the bright side of things- his afternoon would be one free of homework. It didn't really work that well, though. Lucas scooped up his books, tucking his notes inside his textbook and his pen behind his ear. With that, the boy slipped out of the classroom, making his way to the library to do the assigned reading. Fun stuff. |

Arabella ran to the History of Magic classroom. I am going to be soo late for class thought Ari. As she walked into the room she found an empty desk at the back of the room. Out of her bag she took out parchment, ink, quills and began to write down the Hogwarts founders. She listened intently to what Professor Falls was saying about the lesson. An hour later the bell rang and Ari started to pack up her school supplies. Before leaving the room Ari glanced at Professor Falls and said "Great lesson Professor, I learned a lot”. Ari ran to her next class hoping she wouldn’t be too late.
