Rube couldn't stand it anymore. He didn’t know anything or anyone in the university, he couldn’t find his classes. Or the music room, which he wasn’t even sure existed. And anyway, when he did find his classes, the professor’s really just didn’t mesh with him. He had nothing else to do. Walking across the lawn, he ran up the stairs of Hogwarts and headed to the music room.
Dashing into the music room, he pulled his leather case out from under his arm, pulled out his saxophone, and sat down. Adjusting his reed and ligature, he had just starting playing his favorite selections when he heard somebody walk in. Refusing to stop his song, he simply nodded and continued to play.

Abriawna was bored out of her mind and both Levi and Gabriel were no where to be found. She began reasoning with herself. I could study, that would be the smart thing to do, but since when have I ever done the smart thing? She thought about what she could do to occupy her time. The thought of pulling pranks on some of the younger students crossed her mind but it didn’t really give her the level of excitement that she was looking for. The truth was, she couldn’t really get Rube off of her mind and wanted to see him more than anything. They had only just met recently, but this boy intrigued her. Where could he be? she thought to herself.

The girl wandered for a long time before realizing the boy was probably practicing his saxophone skills in the music room. Now the question was where was the music room? She had never been there before as she really had no reason to be there. Abriawna didn’t have much musical talent at all. She could carry a tune fairly well if she really tried, but she had never gotten into an instrument before.

Just when she was almost about to give up finding him, sounds of music flooded her ears. Following the sound she found her way and walked through the door. It was Rube! She was excited but she kept her cool. Looking at the boy when she walked in, he merely gave her a nod and went on playing. Had he not even seen who it was that walked through the door? That wasn’t the typical reaction she was used to getting from boys, and frankly, she didn’t like at all. She cleared her throat and said in a slightly joking tone “When Abriawna walks through the door, she expects more than a nod…”

Abriawna paused for a moment waiting for the boy’s response, when he didn’t look up she could feel her blood start to boil a little bit; as she was a Slytherin after all and quite easily angered. Well if that’s the way it’s going to be I may as well not waste my time here She took one last look at the boy before she was going to turn and leave. Then it dawned on her, he looked upset about something. Perhaps he didn’t even want to be bothered and she was totally intruding. “Hey Rube, are you ok? You look kind of down? Do you want me to leave?

Rube realized it was Abriawna who had walked through the door, but couldn't break away from his song, so he only paused long enough to hold up a finger, saying "Just give me a second. I'm almost done." He finished his song within the next three minutes, and removed the mouthpiece from his mouth. "Sorry, Abriawna. I'm just in a bit of a funk. I'm just having a lot of issues with the big HU, you know? Well, you probably don't, since you're a student here, not there. And sorry for ignoring you, I just really needed to finish my song." He looked down glumly. "But now that I'm done, what's up?"

Abriawna felt her anger and frustration melting away as he explained that he was just in a bit of a mood. She did understand what that was like. It seemed lately that every other day she was in a mood. "Well, if I'm being honest, I'm quite sure what you mean. Is the university that bad?" she questioned innocently. She had no idea how different it was from Hogwarts here, but she imagined that it wouldn't be that different. Whatever Rube was struggling with, she hoped he would open up with sometime and tell her.

The girl almost laughed when he asked her what was up. What was she supposed to tell the boy? Nothing in particular was up at all, she had found what she was looking for. Mind you he wasn't in the right frame of mind that she was hoping for, but maybe being in her presence would change that. Well, to be perfectly straight with you, I was looking for you. I was bored and couldn't get you off my mind." she said rather boldly.

He dismantled his saxophone and put the pieces back in the case. "It's just... It's different. And apparently, the floors are set up to be divided by major, but I'm not sure what my major is. I mean, there's no major that involves transfiguration, astronomy, and muggle music, right? And I'm new to the University, so I'm still unsure about where I fit in socially. But you're here, so I can put that aside." He smiled and leaned back.

Abriawna’s compassionate side that she tended to keep well hidden from people threatened to make an appearance. It seemed as though Rube was struggling with the same kind of thing she was. He didn’t know where he belonged. She had slithered through her entire life unsure of the same thing when, finally, she just decided to be her own person and not worry at all about what others thought of her; at least she never let it show that she cared about how others felt anyway. “You know, this might surprise you, but I have totally struggled with the same thing. You know….not belonging? I eventually just gave up caring about it and did my own thing. Maybe that’s what you need to do too.” the girl suggested with a shrug.

The girl felt a little flutter in her stomach as he smiled at her and was willing to put his problems aside to visit with her. She didn’t know what she should say to him and part of her was just happy to be in his presence.

Abriawna smiled back at the boy. She decided to ask the boy about his music. “How long have you been playing? Did you take lessons or are you one of those people who are just naturally talented and can pick up any instrument and play it? she said as she curled her lip up in slight disgust. The truth was she was very jealous of those types of people. For as long as she could remember she longed to be able to just sit down at a piano and plunk away at the keys and make beautiful music, or to play the guitar, or even some other musical instrument. Abriawna, however, had never been gifted like that and her family didn’t care enough to even ask her if she would like to take lessons. That story was for another time, however.

Rube had to ponder what Abriawna had said before he could reply. "Yeah... I mean, you're right, but I dunno... I guess I just.. care, I dunno. And I've been playing the saxophone since I found this horn lying in the street in a different case. I took it home, read a book, and it came naturally, to be honest. What about you? Do you play an instrument?"

Care? It had been a really long time since Abriawna had cared about things; her heart had since grown quite cold and it was the furthest thing from her mind at the moment. She silently wondered if she should find a way to get back to the way she once was to impress the boy. Shaking her head at her thoughts the girl decided that she would cross that bridge when and if she ever got there.

One thing was for certain, the girl was completely intrigued by this boy. He could just read a book and play the instrument just like he’d been playing for years already. It wasn’t fair. Abriawna nearly choked on her own saliva when Rube asked her if she played an instrument. Clearing her throat she chuckled “No. That’s one thing I’ve never been able to pick up, and you’re going to find out the more you talk to me that I don’t have a whole lot of talents. I’m not what you would call a ‘gifted’ student. While that was partially true, she wondered if she was being too hard on herself. Perhaps she needed to give herself more credit.

She then decided to tell Rube of her longing to be able to play music, but she had never had the opportunity because her parents simply didn’t care enough about it. They had always told her that she didn’t need to waste her time with such muggle activities. Abriawna had guessed, though, that it had nothing to do with doing muggle things but instead had everything to do with them not wanting to pay for something that would make her happy. Just then Abriawna got an idea. “Perhaps you could maybe show me a thing or two sometime? she suggested while looking at the boy expectantly. Maybe it was too much to ask of Rube or maybe she might get lucky. Either way she was hoping she would get to spend a little more "quality" time with him,

“Really? You look like a Revenclaw, I have to say. But if you ever need help with schoolwork, you know where to find me, and we can study.” He winked at the girl. “And while I don’t think I could ever teach you to play the saxophone, because I have no teaching skills, I can show you how to play the drums, though. You can tap your feet to the beat of the music, right?” He yawned and leaned back more, lying on his back. “We should really hang out more, y’know that? Would you like to join me on top of the astronomy tower tonight?

Abriawna's excitement about the boy rose a few notches when he winked at her. Rube was obviously becoming more comfortable with her. He was suggesting that they "study" together. "Really? You'd help me study? That would be so fantastic!"

She thought a moment more about what he was saying. Drums? There's something I have never thought about playing. "Well sure I can tap my toes to the beat of the music, but drums? They look so complicated..." She looked at him kind of sheepishly. She wasn't sure she would have the coordination to try something like that. However, if it meant that she was going to to get to spend a whole lot more time with him, she didn't mind at all.

Abriawna's eyes lit up as soon as he mentioned the Astronomy tower. Her brain was suddenly swimming with pictures of her expectations of how the evening could go with just the two of them. She sat there smiling for a long while before she realized she hadn't at all answered Rube's question. "Well.... If I'm being honest..." she paused for a dramatic effect hoping to get some sort of reaction out of him. Leaning over the boy and letting her long smooth hair fall to the side she looked into Rube's eyes and smiled sweetly. I would love to join you. What exactly did you have mind? Abriawna asked him, never breaking eye contact with him. Perhaps it would just be an evening of looking at the stars together, but if she had her way, she'd definitely be trying get some snuggles out of the deal as well.

"Of course I'd help you! Anything for a friend! And drums, they're really just tapping various 'things' to the rhythm of the music. And I play both the drums and the sax in a wizarding jazz band every summer." But after his question about the astronomy tower, Abriawna leaned over him, her hair spooling down towards him, and it was so hot he almost started drooling. "Well... If I'm being honest..." He, too, paused, but this time it was only to half-mockingly parrot her, "I was just thinking about laying down and watching the stars, but we could do something else if you wanted to..."

Abriawna couldn’t help but smile with Rube poked fun at her a little bit. She had thought that she was being a little bit sexy and apparently he thought that she was just being silly. She playfully punched him in the shoulder “Are you making fun of me? she asked him through a giggle.

She was almost harsh with her protest when he suggested that they could do something else if she wanted. “Oh gosh, no! I mean… that’s exactly what I wanted to do too. I don’t recall a time where I’ve ever just laid there and stared at the sky.” It was the truth. The girl hadn’t ever really been interested in the stars before. That was until she met Rube.

Abriawna was tired of holding herself up so she shifted and lay down next to Rube. She placed her chin on her hand and rested them both on his chest. “You don’t mind do you? I just thought it looked so comfortable so I had to try it out. Abriawna said innocently. If he wanted to he could shove her off. She could feel his heart beating through his chest and she smiled at him. “So what time do you want to head up the tower tonight? Abriawna asked him eagerly anticipating the fun they were going to have that evening.

Rube rubbed his shoulder jokingly when she punched him, but quickly moved on, as there were other things to discuss that were much more important. "Of course not! Just mocking a bit." He laughed and winked at her.

He was glad that she also wanted to just watch the stars, although 'oh, gosh no!' was a little harsh in his eyes. "Good, good. You'll love it up there. And perhaps I'll even bring my saxophone, although that might get us in trouble. And now that we're losing to you snakes in the House Cup, I can't afford to lose any points, although I wouldn't mind seeing you lose some. No offense intended of course, but you are a Slytherin."

Rube was pleasantly surprised when she lay down next to him and rested her head on his chest. "I really don't mind at all, though I'm surprised I looked so comfortable. And how about...11? By the lake."

Abriawna's eyes sparkled as he mentioned his saxophone and how it might get them into trouble. The truth was, she was a Slytherin and she sure didn't mind the thrill of putting her ass on the line. "Oh come on now..." she teased "You're acting like getting in trouble is a bad thing."

The girl nestled into Rube a little closer. The smell of him was intoxicating and she had to be careful that she didn't let her mind wander too far. A smile crept up on her face as she thought about the evening ahead. "11 sounds fantastic. Do you need me to bring anything? Wear anything special maybe? She breathed deeply again taking in the smell of him and waited for his reply. The girl also found herself lightly tracing designs on his chest with her finger. Sooner or later she had to get a reaction out of him.

“Well, they can’t get me in trouble, because I was thinking at Hogwarts, so I’m older than all the prefects. But do you really want to ruin your house’s lead in the standings for the House Cup? Unless you don’t care, of course…”
She nuzzled her way a little closer to the tall teenager, and he silently put his arm around her, pulling her ever closer. “Eleven does sound pretty great. Unless it’s in a Scottish accent. Listen to them talk, it’s kinda scary. Not like the beautiful voice of an Irishman at all.” Rube almost laughed. He was in a very good mood, all of a sudden. Scarily good, as a matter of fact. “The only thing you should bring is your beautiful self. I’ll stop by the kitchens on my way over. And it doesn’t matter to me what you wear, you’ll look sexy no matter what.” He winked at her and slowly became conscious of her finger slowly and ever so lightly tracing shapes on his chest, and forced himself to pull his head out of his daydreamings. Abriawna was pretty, but it was possible she didn’t feel the same way about him, and he had to go slowly.

OOC: Long enough for you? ;)
