The air was freezing. Every sound was magnified. The smallest noise echoed and crashed through the night. The air itself cracked as it froze in the forest. Annara walked through the trees calmly, as she had done so many times before. On nights like these a fur coat was a blessing. She just rambled along, lost in her own thoughts for a while. Slowly making her way deeper, and darker to the heart of the woods. She came to a clearing and silver moonlight burst into view.

It's a marvelous night for a moondance... she thought. The song had been on the edge of her mind for days, only now did it come to the surface. Incidentally, it came to the surface on a night her green eyes weren't looking out of her pleasing oval face, they were looking out over the muzzle of a maned wolf.

With the stars up above in your eyes. A fantabulous night to make romance... She stopped, stood stock still and stared straight ahead. A leaf twitched in a low lying bush in the clearing.

And all the leaves on the trees are falling, To the sound of the breezes that blow... The low cover was few and far between in the forbidden forest because there was so rarely enough light to support them, but this clearing probably got plenty of light in the day. Annara was nearly certain there was prey hiding in this lonely bush. She hunkered down close to the ground and slowly inched forward. She gathered her legs underneath her and prepared to pounce. Just as she pushed off the ground, a figure rolled out from under the bush, stood quickly, and ran into the trees. It looked human. She landed with a hushed thud some inches short of her target. She stared after the retreating figure and fought herself. The nearly full moon pulled at her, urged her to make chase, to hunt this prey. But her human mind was still in control barely, and anchored her to the spot.
