Species:
Genetically Uplifted Mutt ( 1/4 Collie, 1/4 Labrador, 1/2 German Shepherd)
Age: Mid 20s
Eyes: Amber
Height: 6'2"
Build: Gangly/Lanky. Long fingers and seemingly big foot-paws, too. If you've ever seen an adolescent puppy whose paws are still too big for the rest of them, Dax gives that effect.
Fur/Marking: Dax's patterns seem to follow those of his 'classic collie' father, however his cheeks and flanks are German Shepherd buff rather then Collie white. The general length and flow of his fur also tend to lean more towards the Collie side, however he does possess the pronounced cheek-ruffs of a German Shepherd and a somewhat thicker, fluffier fur on his chest and stomach. The other distinctive feature is a 'lop' left ear, a call-back to his Labrador grandfather..

History: Dax is the son of Conner and Trix Olav, whose details and story can be found elsewhere on these pages. Due to complications bought about by old battle injuries, Dax and his mother, Trix, nearly died during his birth. Fortunately, the two excellent biologists on hand were able to save the mother, aided by her considerable natural toughness, however the strain of the event left Dax severely weakened, with organs barely able to keep the puppy alive and even then at a constant risk of failing for good. The surgeons decided to operate, working against the clock to graft a range of small machines into the puppy that would support and regulate his failing internal organs. For several tense weeks, it was touch and go.. however, gradually, the puppy grew stronger and stronger, coming out of the danger area to the great relief of his parents, the other pack members and, of course, the surgical team who'd fought so hard to save his life.

To Be Continued....

Talents:
Technomancy: Normally, Professor Olav's genetically engineered canids develop a certain degree of 'Pack' telepathy between them, as well being born with shapeshifting skills. The surgery as a puppy precludes Dax from shapeshifting and, subsequently, the telepathy that normally would enable the dogs to communicate with feral mouths was assumed to be latent or lost entirely. However, at around the time that the other elevated canids were beginning to develop their telepathy and truly master their shapeshifting, Dax began to demonstrate an affinity for machines, initially being able to create words on the screens of suitable devices using his mind rather then a keyboard. This talent evolved as he grew, evolving into an ability to reprogram nearby electronics with a thought, then an ability to re-shape and re-purpose machines which he had contact with. Whether this is the absolute end of his skills remains to be seen...
To recap, this skill covers:
* Virtual Interfacing: with machines nearby, allowing him to 'talk' to computers and machinery the way his pack would talk to each other with telepathy. In turn this allows him to reprogram some devices merely by mentally visualizing and thinking about the result he desires.
* Wireless Link: Related to the above, Dax's mind is capable of connecting into local internet sources and extracting data from them. He's also capable of controlling wireless-connect machinery with his mind, particularly when the machinery is one of the range of small drones or robots he's created over the years. Including that one that Just Serves Butter.
* Machine Reform: Dax can reform machines and metalwork he touches again by simply thinking about what he desires the outcome to be and focusing on the matter for a while.

Partial Magical Anomaly: Due to being bonded to Machinery, Dax has something of an odd relationship with 'magic' and some other mental effects that tend to misbehave when trying to effect him. This is particularly true of telepathy, a fact that frustrates him no end as it means he can't tap in to his own families Pack telepathy and communicate with them.

Swimming: Is part Labrador. Go figure.

Personality:
For the most part, a big softy with a chilled out nature and a heart of gold who only wants those around him to be happy.
The only exceptions to this are when he's tinkering with machinery, in which case he tends to zone out of the real world almost entirely, or if someone is hurt in front of him. Then the fiercely protective nature inherited from his mother kicks in...

Stray Notes:
* Due to his grandfather being a Labrador, Dax has webbed toes, a feature developed in the breed to aid in their roll of recovering game from water.
* Tends to talk a lot, generally saying out loud the thoughts passing through his head until he reaches some kind of internal consensus or realizes what he's doing.
