From this week's Popbitch mailout:

The world continues to be an unceasing shit-tip, but here's a bright little flicker of hope for you all.

A little announcement cropped up in the depths of the Government's official Intellectual Property Office website late last week. A notification of a trademark application. Filed by Bauer Media.

To trademark the name "Smash Hits!" again...

It'd be great to see it on the shelves again, but if it was full of today's ghastly pop stars, it'd most likely be shit.

which reminds me all issues of smash hits i was collecting back in the day are still stored somewhere. i need to trace them and get my life again reading those singles and albums reviews. apart from getting valuable information on take that and kylie's fave colour i also recall smash hits sort of made me discover the stone roses. and betty boo, of course.

Oh wow! I regularly kick myself for not having kept my Smash Hits issues. I’ve even considered buying some on eBay! How many did you keep? Which years?

oh, there must be quite a lot of them within that fairly large cardboard box in the attic! they should be dated between 1989-1994 if i recall correctly. i really have to trace them even though the attic is looking like a nightmare to enter these days.
