So basically she's an orgy machine?

I like the video, it's very stylish, but the song... I don't know. It just kinda plods along, no climax or anything.

I'd rather look at it in a more poetic way. She responds to human aggression and prodding by spreading love and sex. Note she is not exacting revenge but rather smiling. She just wants everyone to be HAPPY. And Avant Que L'Ombre is NOT shit.

Avant Que L'ombre is with Innamoramento the best album she made. The videos of that era were quite shit indeed but the album is FLAWLESS, especially the title track.

And Dégénération is incredibly good, I never heard anything like it before. I would define it as ART. :sadbitch:

Used to LOVE Mylène!

Cendres de lune...buy the best of and you'll get everything you need. This one didn't make me a fan, but did pique my curiosity.

Ainsi soit je...loved it in the day. sounds a bit dated now (more so than most of her work).

L'autre...PASSIONATE for this one!

Anamorphosée, not bad. The singles are really good.

Innamoramento is good. It grew on me (and now i REALLY LIKE it). It was missing the initial punch of her previous work for me, but all in all it's good! Les Mots (best of) with Seal is AMAZING!

AVANT QUE L'OMBRE is WORSE than Hard Candy!!!!! It's horrible! One good song (L'Amour n'est rien) 2 or 3 that you can listen to (Dans les rues de Londres, ok maybe just one).

The duet with Moby, Slipping Away, is also very good and one of my favorite songs.

The new song is OK. You have to admit that she's surfing on Désenchantée (my FAVORITE by FAR) with the title. It's the VIDEO that blows you away (wish Madonna would make one thike this again). I'm sure her live show will be good.

The only problem is that, unlike Madonna, Mylène NEVER tries anything new and being a fan for ages, I feel like it's just the same darn thing over and over (high pitched whining, words that even members of the Académie Française never use, depression, sadness-this must make her cool- and then the fast dance version of the same thing).

I'm still holding out for something to blow me away. But I'm not holding my breath.

^ I can't believe my eyes reading you don't LOVE Avant Que L'ombre, it's one of the best things she's ever done? At least you must like the title track then? :(

She's always been quite dark and very melancholic, it's how she is and what she wants the audience to tell, I really like that. At least it's not shallow and generic like 'I got 4 minutes!', her lyrics are genuine and profound. Just read the lyrics to Il n'y a pas d'ailleurs or AQL and you'll understand what I mean.

I love her to bits! The new album will be fantastic, I'm sure you'll end up loving it! :)

You've GOT to be joking?! Avant que l'ombre is TRASH, RUBBISH, CRAP and worse than Hard Candy!!!!

Not even her fans (and yes, I bought the CD, not a download, the day it was released) could save this BOMB! It was a flop for Mylène and with reason. No stand out singles (Fuck them all is about the WORST song EVER recorded; it killed the album's chances. Moreover, the video was just recycled Mylène over the past 20 years). Follow ups didn't get any better, even if I like L'amour n'est rien.

No, the title song is also bad in my opinion. She's trying to be esoteric and melodramatic and melancholic. Problem being that she has been doing this for ages (you yourself mentioned that, she's always been melancholic) and she did it better YEARS ago. It's time to move on woman!

OK, I DO like Ange, parle-moi on a good day & Q.I. I hate to admit it, but I think it's funny and witty (in a 10-year old way, but OK).

But for her tears, darkness, soul, angles, dreams, prayers. She's been singing about this for 25 years herself. I don't think it's any better than 4 Minutes, and I'm not fan of that song either.

Additionally, the music is the SAME on evry disc. You can't deny that. She has not changed. You buy one Mylène disc and you've got 'em all (especially true for Avant que l'Ombre!!!).

That's fine. I mean I've got all her albums and the DVDs . But it's the same thing over and over. And it's the same thing but of a lesser quality. People are getting tired of that.

well Madonna is changing all the time and people are getting tired of that too.. does every artist need to change direction continuously?

Except Mylène has done the same thing for as long as Madonna has been changing styles (over 20 years). It would be like Madonna doing somthing from the LAV to early True Blue stuff, 20 years later. That's my problem with Mylène. I know a lot of former fans who have dropped her because there's nothing new, just the same thing over and over. I don't like HC, but it's something new (more or less). A new direction for Madonna, just like ROL took her in a new direction as did AL. You can like it or not, but it's not the same thing. With Mylène it is. and I'm a fan. You can only imagine what non-fans have to say. And there is a grain of truth to what they are saying.

I don't see how Ainsi Soit Je is ANYTHING like L'autre... and you really need to show me the similarities between L'autre... and Anamorphosée because I can't find them.

Ok, so you are as crazy about Mylène (and that's OK) as some fans on other sites are about Madonna. You know the ones who can DEFEND anything she does, no matter how bad or subpar it is. That's fine. I can't "show" you anything because you're already convinced of the opposite. that's fine. I just don't argue, dialogue, get into it with people like that anymore. You have your opinion, and that's fine. I have mine. We're both supported by lots of other fans and general public. It's a question of taste (but come on, she's got the same themes in every album since 1986, not to mention the same sound musically. OOps, shouldn't have gone there :D ).

She does explore the same themes in all of her albums but she does progress musically. From the synthy pop of early albums to the rockier edge of Anamorphosee to the more epic and organic next couple of albums to the more electronic new one. And her lyrics are very intricate and thoughful so that counts for something. Madonna has been exploring the same themes in all her career too. At least Mylene doesn't include 'turkish delight' in her lyrics.

exactly, the basics and the formula are the same

but musically I can't see a clear resemblence between the last few albums and for example the ethnic Innamoramento

When she's at her best, her songs are simply undeniable. I can't see how someone cannot like for example L'Amour Naissant or Avant Que L'Ombre which to me is almost as good as Like A Prayer.
