Good is Good is pretty much crap, yeah. But that is no doubt the weakest song on that the album - Wildflower as a whole is probably my favorite album by her. Here's how I'd rank it:

I Know Why 8/10
Perfect Lie 9/10
Good Is Good 5/10
Chances Are 8/10
Wildflower 7½/10
Lifetimes 8/10
Letter To God 10/10
Live It Up 7/10
I Don't Wanna Know 9/10
Always On Your Side 10/10
Where Has All The Love Gone 10/10

I like Wildflower too, but there was something strange about it that I can't quite place. Probably because they seemed to just give up on it the second it was released. It seemed like a year before they got around to releasing a second single, "Always On Your Side," which was then made into a duet with Sting.

Not to steer this completely off track, but I still cannot get used to "Chances Are" within the context of Wildflower.

"Chances Are" is one of her best songs --my absolute favourite from the C'mon C'mon sessions (issued on the b-side of Soak Up The Sun)-- and it is this same recording that appears on Wildflower from 3+ years later. The only difference is a new line of orchestration thrown so low into the mix that most people would never notice a difference.

It messes up the flow of the album for me.

Oh but it really isn't... at least not for me. It's the only bad thing about Wildflower.

Yeah, it's so bad they picked it as the lead single. :spank:

And given that the album fairly speed skated down the chart, I'll bet they wish they hadn't.

"Good Is Good" is a good great song, but it wasn't the strongest choice for a lead single.

This probably would have been a wiser selection of singles:

1. Live It Up
2. Always On Your Side
3. ***Real Gone*** not from Wildflower, soundtrack cut
4. Lifetimes

Eeew. What a dreadful selection.

"Real Gone" is shit. "Live It Up" is probably my least favourite song on "Wildflower".

I'd have done it like this:

1. Lifetimes
2. Where Has All The Love Gone
3. Letter To God
4. Always On Your Side (WITHOUT FUCKING STING :manson:)
5. Perfect Lie/I Know Why

Here are 45 second clips of all the tracks from "Detours"(except the Japanese bonus tracks). I must say I'm actually very encouraged hearing some of these. A lot of the album sounds quite raw and along the lines of her first 3 records. My favourite based on the clips is definitely "Love Is All There Is".

When you click the link below, you then have to click the "DETOURS" link in pale blue underneath the main "New Release" heading. That'll take you into the sound clips page.

"Live It Up" is one of my least favourites too, but we're working with an album containing little to no single material. I placed "Real Gone" where it was actually released seeing as the soundtrack cut was going to come out regardless (it bubbled under in the US at #1.) I had my little "label" hat on.

*listens to snippets*

Much excite.

Some of the snippets are quite surprising. "Out Of Our Heads" doesn't sound like anything she's done before!

I like almost everything I heard in the snippets, especially "Out Of Our Heads" and "Make It Go Away".
