From the official site: It is anticipated that the recording and mixing of the new Pet Shop Boys' album will be completed in November and that it will be released in March 2009. A single, probably a song co-written with Xenomania called "Love etc.", will be released prior to the album. |

I, too, enjoyed "Fundamental". I thought it was going to be a big album for them, because of all the publicity, but it died on its slingbacks. |

Pet Shop Boys AND Xenomania, this is going to be fantastic! I liked Fundamental but not loved it although Integral is one of their best songs. |

Fundamental was their best album in a long time. Hope the new record builds on that return to form. |

There was a time when I hated Pet Shop Boys and thought they were a fucking joke. Fortunately, that has all but changed. |

This will be great promo for the album! Well overdue too! Pet Shop Boys to pick up top honour at Brits The Pet Shop Boys will collect the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at next year’s Brit Awards, it was announced today. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe will be honoured with the award at the ceremony on February 18, the UK’s recorded music association, the BPI, said. The pioneering dance duo, known for their chart-topping hits including 'West End Girls' and 'It’s A Sin', will perform live on the show at Earls Court. Chairman of the Brits committee Ged Doherty said: “Since their first Brit Award over 20 years ago, Neil and Chris have produced a fantastic body of work with songs that truly were the soundtrack to a whole generation’s lives. “The Pet Shop Boys have since become one of the most influential groups of the modern era and are deserving recipients of the award.” With Tennant, 54, providing the main vocals, and Lowe, 49, on keyboards, the Pet Shop Boys have sold 50 million records since they signed to Parlophone in 1985. They have had four number one singles and 22 top 10 hits. Their first number one, 'West End Girls', released in 1986, topped the charts all over the world. That single won them the first of their two previous Brits for Best British Single. In 1998 they picked up the Best British Group award. They have also worked as producers or remixers with artists including Robbie Williams, Liza Minnelli, David Bowie, Madonna, Kylie, Yoko Ono and The Killers. The Pet Shop Boys will join a list of previous winners including Paul McCartney, Oasis, U2, Paul Weller, Tom Jones, Sting, David Bowie, Eurythmics, The Beatles and The Who. |

I was exactly the same until a couple of years ago. I thought Neil Tennant couldn't sing and that they were utter shite. Boy was I wrong. |

Oh how I adore Chris and Neil... I've even sold Neil a pair of socks once! So a March release? Perfectly timed for my birthday, so I can see myself killing off a bottle of Absolut with their new album playing as I lament another year gone. |

I have always had a soft spot for them since West End Girls. My interest waned for most of the 1990s, but reignited again with Nightlife. |

their 90s output is really worth re-evaluating. Very is one of the best albums of all time, and that's not just my opinion. It holds together fantastically and the singles weren't even the best things on it! Album cuts such as One And One Make Five, Young Offender, The Theatre and Dreaming Of the Queen are among their most poignant tracks. I strongly reccomend you check it out. It was also one of their strongest eras visually. Bilingual I can give or take but it did give us the wonderful Se A Vida E

"Dreaming Of The Queen" is utterly sublime! It's cheesy as fuck, but "One In A Million" is also the most amazing track Take That never recorded. Truly immense pop. By the way, you can hear two unreleased PSB remixes of MGMT's "Kids" at petshopboys.co.uk. Just go to Product>Exclusive tracks. |
