As much as I am enjoying the album, no one song is really jumping out me as "that's the one". I like just about all of them, but am yet to fall in love with any. That said, I've only listened to it five times.
That's how I feel about it as well. It's all very good and there are some good melodies but I wouldn't have any of the songs on repeat on my iPod or anything.

It's definitely the best song on the album by a long shot (AND it's got bass! Finally!)... but I'm not complete won over by it yet.

But the rest of the album is pleasant enough as well. Though I have to agree with Mats that Beautiful People is kinda annoying. And Vulnerable is just shit.

No, it's absolutely *not* shit. It's at least 1 minutes too long though.

So I got the special edition of "Yes" in my local HMV today. There wasn't a single copy of the regular edition, but two copies of the special edition. How fucking weird is that?

In their fanclub magazine which some prople received today, there's mention of a "Yes" era track called "Requim in Denim and Leopardskin" which hasn't been used so far. Sounds intriguing!

"Love Etc" entered the UK charts at #14 this evening.

Could've been better, but could also have been a LOT worse. That's only two lower than U2's single and they took over the BBC for a week beforehand. Way better than Morrissey's recent single chart position too.

No matter how you try to sugarcoat it, after the massive Brits performance and the huge media blitz, that is a flop. And a pretty big one as well.

Eh...not really.

They performed a few seconds of it on The Brits and since then haven't performed it anywhere on any TV show. They haven't even been a big singles or albums act in *years*. It's not sugarcoating anything at all. Like I said, it could have been better, but it could have been an awful lot worse.

Well they should've performed it then. For a first single, it's been pretty half-assed... The song itself is hardly first single material, the video is awful, the remixes uneventful... and you know you're in trouble when the B-sides are better than the A-side!!

I don't understand why they didn't release All Around The World.

Yes they *should* have performed it on TV. That made no sense to me. The only thing I can think of is that there are limited TV shows for performing on these days, and they're probably waiting until this week for that kind of promo, so they can sell the album, which is much more important.

I do think that for a big comeback record, the first single should have been either "All Over The World" or "Pandemonium". I'm not really sure why they went with "Love Etc". It's an excellent song, but hardly the most radio-friendly, "poppy" song on the album. I don't however, think that the b-sides are better. I also love the video. It's not some generic piece of shit video. It's artistic. That's what they do.

I could be completely wrong in thinking this, but I wonder if "Love Etc" was a sort of "soft launch" of the album. I have a feeling that they'll be performing "All Over The World" everywhere when it's released as a single. I'm guessing/hoping it'll have a more conventional video too. It'd be strange for them not to pull out all the stops for such a hugely commercial track.

apparently vinyl copies are going to be limited to 1000, so this will probably cost more than Confessions On A Dancefloor does on wax :(

I think all in all, this is easily the strongest album since Bilingual, maybe even Very. Fundamental really got them out of their rut IMO but this album is even better. Not one filler track IMO

"Bilingual"? Yikes. I have very, very little time for that album aside from "Se A Vida E" and "Single".

my thought exactly. it could have sense they first went for a low key release thinking the brits exposure would be enough for the album launch. on the other hand, they haven't set the charts on fire for years, it'd be pretty unlikely for them to experience an overkill at the moment. if all over the world is set to be pushed pretty soon, that would confirm a particular marketing stategy planned but i'm not holding my breath over it to happen. this is parlophone we're talking about, they even managed to book kylie on x factor final for performing a song that was to be released months later.
