From the official site regarding the special edition:

"more copies are already being pressed due to demand from retailers."

London Music: Pet Shop Boys face a mix tape's worth of questions on love, sin and Kylie
by Malcolm Mackenzie. Monday, 23 March 2009

Go West
Chelsea or Hackney?
Neil Tennant: I live in the west and Chris lives in the east – and that is the Pet Shop Boys.

Being Boring
What subject can you waffle about?
Chris Lowe: Nothing.
Neil: You? You could complain about things.
Chris: Well, I can go on about ID cards, and how CCTV cameras have turned Britain into a gulag. You get off a train at a railway station and it’s like a prison camp. There’s not one little camera – they’re all over the place.
Neil: People would have found it slightly sinister at one time. But a generation has grown up thinking: “Whatever.”

It’s a Sin
Which modern-day sin gets your back up?
Neil: We can’t go back to invasions of privacy, can we? Two years ago, 70 per cent of the public were in favour of ID cards, now over 70 per cent are against them. Thank you the Pet Shop Boys. Having brought down the Berlin Wall, we’re taking on ID cards.
Chris: I think at the moment it’s greed, because greed has caused where we are now. All these bankers giving themselves massive bonuses – it was bound to end in tears.

Love Comes Quickly
Does it?
Neil: Yes, it can do.
Chris: I just wish it would come – desperately. Oh god, that’s a headline. I didn’t say that.

Integral
What ingredients make a great Pet Shop Boys track?
Chris: Well, you start with fried onions like any good dish.
Neil: You’ve got to have a good melody and rhythm track, interesting lyrics, even an interesting title, and maybe a tiny element of humour. But sometimes you can have all those things and think: “I don’t really like that.”

Liberation
What was it like coming out of the closet in the 90s?
Neil: It didn’t bother me really. I was talking to Attitude magazine, and it seemed churlish not to say anything. In a truly equal society your sexuality should not be worthy of comment.

Rent
How is the financial crisis affecting your monthly mortgage repayments?
Chris: It’s gone down, to 0.5 per cent or something. But I hate having a mortgage. You’d think after however long we’ve been doing this, we wouldn’t have one, but we never sold enough records in one go. We never had a £6m-selling album.
Neil: He’s milking it a little bit – we’ve sold £4m.

Can You Forgive Her?
You wrote Pandemonium for Kylie. Were you miffed she didn’t want it?
Neil: I’m not bothered that Kylie didn’t record it, although I think she would have done it really well. In many ways it was the starting point for our album because when we sat down to do it, we were like: “Well, we’ve got Pandemonium. Let’s listen to that:great, one – tick.”

I Want a Dog
Chihuahuas are popular now – feel responsible?
Neil: I’d like to. Chihuahuas aren’t my type of dog. That was a quote from a friend of ours. He said: “I want a dog, a chihuahua, I’ve only got a small flat.” It was all quite logical but very funny.

Miserablism
Chris, is having a grumpy persona a blessing because people leave you alone?
Chris: I was probably more miserable in the 80s. It wasn’t a deliberate ploy, although it could work like that.
Neil: I think the whole act of the Pet Shop Boys has come out of the people we are, but privately Chris is more talkative than me. I often just relax into silence.

West End Girls
You’ve worked with divas Liza, Dusty and Patsy (Kensit). Any others you fancy? Kate Bush?
Chris: Well, no one’s suggested Kate Bush before.
Neil: That’s never entered my head because she’s such an auteur, but I think the Pet Shop Boys and Kate Bush is a good idea. Thank you for that suggestion. We heard Rihanna wanted to work with us but we couldn’t quite believe it – she’s got a great voice.

Yes
Which answer do you favour: yes or no?
Chris: I think you can tell from the amount of promotion we’ve been doing for this album [Yes], that we’ve been saying “yes” a lot more than we’ve been saying “no”.
Neil: Instinct normally is to say “no”, but sometimes you have to be nice.

Yes, the new album by Pet Shop Boys is very good and it’s out today. Buy it

Isn't it weird how very, very old Chris Lowe looks these days? He always used to look much younger than Neil and was even quite cute back in the day. Now he looks like a scary old man in teenage attire.

Yeah, he really has aged like Benjamin Button in reverse...

I used to fancy him back in the day. I mean, look at him in my signature - he's well lush!

He does seem more comfortable in himself these days though...

Anyone else here ever join the official fan club? I joined for a year when "Fundamental" was released. The magazine that they send out every so often called Literally is absolutely wonderful. It goes into such detail about the albums and all the other stuff they do. Gonna renew tomorrow!! :)

I was shocked when I saw him on the Brits with that pink wig and 20 chins. Poor Chris, he was so cute.

wise choice, it better be sent to the radio pretty soon.

the album was released here on tuesday and rather unsurprisingly there's no trace of the special edition. i think i'll wait until the weekend before i order it on hmv.com just in case it emerges out of a sudden. hey riv, i recall the same situation occured in ireland, too, did u manage to get a copy of the 2disc edition from a record store after all? i'm only asking to figure out if it's available elsewhere regardless of any delays.

This 2nd single scenario is just plain bizarre... perhaps they're going to do a simultaneous release or perhaps release them in selected territories??

The single releases should go as follows

- Love Etc
- Did You See Me Coming?
- Pandemonium
- More Than A Dream

but then again All Over The World and The Way It Used To Be are single-worthy in my opinion.

Wow.

I love how AOTW is just a little aside in your list. It's literally *SCREAMING* to be a single. It should actually have been the first single. It's without a doubt the song with the most hit potential...by FAR.

DYSMC is a very, very good song, but they already gave away 2 MILLION copies of it 3 weeks ago. It's insanity to release it as a single, especially when you have a song like AOTW sitting there waiting for a release.

Balls, I completely forgot about that Daily Mail thing (for good reason one assumes). I really can't see radio playing All Over The World though... I guess it's difficult to decide as radio stations may just decide not to play any of the follow up singles. Their best hope is if the album does get to #1 and they push the next single to radios quite quickly.

Why can't you see radio stations playing AOTW? They aren't big on radio anyway, but I reckon that's the one with the most potential by a LONG way. It's *incredibly* catchy and euphoric. Why would you think otherwise?
