You're all probably right, but it just made me feel a bit better. ![]() It pisses me off all the more because he *isn't* actually a critic. He's supposed to supply a commentary of that week's chart action, not take potshots at respected artists. |

I think the first post he did was fair enough (except for the "why do they still bother" comment) because he did have a point - CHARTWISE. But now he's just taking it even further, and he's obviously only doing to piss people off. He doesn't deserve your e-mails! |

wow. that's sort of massive. no wonder why emi still suck up to them, top3 in germany can secure them a contract for many years to come.

It's very good, but what if it's #38 next week though. We shall see!! But yeah, it shows they still command respect in a big territory! |

I just got the latest issue of their excellent fan club magazine Literally. They clearly detest "Mamma Mia", as their answer to the question if they'd ever consider a musical based on their songs proves. ![]() Chris: I wouldn't want to do a musical like that if it ended up anything like Mamma Mia. Neil: I don't think we'd originate it, but if someone came along with some particularly brilliant one we might go along with it. I must say, if I was ABBA and I had seen the script for Mamma Mia I would have rejected it. But I would have been wrong because it has beenso massive... Chris: No, you would have been right because it's dreadful. Have you seen the film? Neil: No, I haven't seen the film. Chris: [gives a withering look] It just goes to prove that sales aren't everything. Neil: I remember when we went to see Mamma Mia The Musical, when we were planning Closer To Heaven. I think we went with Mitch and Jonathan Harvey. I felt sorry for the songs, really. Some of the songs are so beautiful and they presented it like a camp pantomime -- it seemed a shame. Chris: I doubt if the songs will ever recover from Mamma Mia. I mean, I can't bear to listen to them anymore. |

They also discuss a song from the "Yes" era that hasn't been used yet. Brian Higgins pisses me off... Chris: Oh, there's a great song called 'Requiem in Denim and Leopardskin'. Neil: We might have to rewrite the verse. The chorus is excellent. Chris: It's a very beautiful song -- it's an elegy set to disco music. Neil: It's about Lynne Easton. Chris: It's another song about a funeral. Neil: It's really moving, actually. Neil: It looks back to when she first came to London and mentions Johnny Rotten and all these people hanging around the King's Road. I lived there then, so it's like a memoir of the King's Road in the early Eighties. I thought it would definitely be on the album, but Brian wasn't that bothered about it. He said he thought the verse was too similar to the verse of "Nothing Has Been Proved" because it mentions names. Chris: But it's a great track. |

today i found a copy of the special edition of release, needless to say i grabbed it right away as i hadn't owned it up to this point. they may not sell albums at this age, but their artwork is simply fuckin amazing. i've been trying to convince my mag in making a feature on the pet shop boys's artwork, fingers crossed they'll give me the green light in doin so rather shortly. |

Great idea! I take it you own their book "Catalogue"? It has nothing but the artwork for all of their singles and promos and DVDs. I don't think any other artists have ever taken such care and paid such attention to their artwork. Stunning! |

yes i do own it and, yes, it's excellent! concerning their artwork, it helps that they've been on a long term partnership with farrow design, their style firs perfectly to what the psb are aiming at. the duo are definitely very involved in the process, i remember the interview printed on the booklet of behaviour's re-issue where neil noted he no longer likes the full stop right after the album's title on the original cover. that says a lot about how much they care about artwork. |

Yay! From their official Twitter page: "Just finished the first b-side for the next single. It's called " The former enfant terrible". Two more to do. And this also: The next single is "Did you see me coming?" with a provisional UK release date of June 1st. |

one does not to be a record company executive to realise all over the world should be the next single. people at emi never seem to impress me with their decisions. first kylie, now the pet shop boys. i really don't think they can market pop the way it should be done, which is so depressing for a company of their calibre. |

Love Etc is #21 on Bubbling Under in the US. I believe this is their first appearance on that chart since Can You Forgive Her in 1993. So this is their biggest US "hit" in 16 years
