Interesting to hear what Dickie X does with "The Way it Used to Be".

Indeed. I seriously doubt he could improve upon it, but looking forward to hearing it anyway.

More Twittering!

"Just finished our new mix of "Did you see me coming?" It's got a lot of new vocals, both spoken and sung."

So my special edition finally arrived :bradleh:

Have been caning it all weekend. I also really REALLY love "This Used To Be The Future"... The twinkly synth at the very beginning oddly reminds me of "What It Feels Like For A Girl".

according to Hits, Yes opens at #37 with sales of over 12k in the US. Fundamental in comparison debuted at #150 with 7500 copies, and the sales climate was much healthier in 2006.

Well I'm just thrilled that they got a US Top 40 album for the first time in years. Well done boys!

It was indeed. Some hilariously bad marketing going on here.

EXACTLY. The world needs The Way It Used To Be as a single release with a killer video.

TWIUTB would flop hard as a single, but so will anything else they release at this stage. It's the best song on the album, but it's not a single. There's a big difference.

I think after a few weeks playing the album, This Used to Be the Future is now my favourite track. I can't understand why it was left off the album and only available on the special edtion! They must have asked someone at Girls Aloud HQ for advice...

I don't really agree. I actually think it's the weakest track of the bunch and am glad it's not on the album proper!

I love every single track on "Yes". I think "Building A Wall" is great and have no problem with it whatsoever. I quite like "This Used To Be The Future", but for me it's the weakest of them all. It just doesn't really grab me at all. The melody is a tad flimsy compared to the others.

"Yes" has actually entered the US Billboard albums chart at #32, not #37. :alexz:

chartwise, being boring was also a flop for their standards back then, but should have they not released it? the way it used to be needs to be a single just for the sake of it. does it really matter even if it even misses the top40? i think not.

Well "Being Boring" would still be the wonderful song it is had they released it as a single or not. To me, a single should be a commercial track that stands the most chance of being played on the radio and hopefully then convince people to buy the album. There's not really much point releasing a downbeat track that radio won't play, no matter how gorgeous it is. They need to sell albums. As such, All Over The World was the way to go. Or even DYSMC, as it's upbeat and very catchy. Just because Pet Shop Boys fans (rightfully) adore TWIUTB doesn't mean it should be a single. You've got to think of the overall picture and what the purpose of releasing a single actually is.
