Mamma Mia Makes It Big![]() The Brits love them some musicals! And so do we! The film adaptation of Mamma Mia! has become the biggest hit EVER at the British box office. The musical has made over $95 million just at the UK box office alone since its release on July 18th. That's more than any of the Harry Potter movies or even Titanic brought in. Insane! As for worldwide, the movie has made over $571 million. David Kosse, the president of Universal Pictures International, said “Mamma Mia! is pure escapism, proving a fun and inexpensive way to forget about the state of the economy for a couple of hours." Who are you kidding? People just love musicals! Kosse added, “For Mamma Mia! to make history in this way and beat Titanic, which has held the record in the UK since 1998, is truly phenomenal. This film has exceeded our expectations and delighted audiences around the world since it opened in July.” In fact, Mamma Mia! has become the most popular film of the year in 15 countries already. Talk about making a mark globally. There better be a sequel! |

Has the world officially gone INSANE? This film is a *piece of SHIT*. Yes, the songs are great, but as a movie, it STINKS. |

I still haven't seen it. I guess it's become the chav film of the century. How depressing. I saw the stage version and loved it, but the idea of making it into a film never appealed. Then again, I saw "The Dark Knight" last week and thought it was absolute wankypoo so what do I know? |

I actually prefer "Who's That Girl?". It actually has a couple of decent lines. This film has *nothing*. Even normally wonderfully people like Julie Walters are shit in it. |

Oh hurrah!!! You thought it was a pitiful load of old wank too???!! Thank God I'm not the only one suffering from this mass delusion that "it's a masterpiece". The thing that cracked me up was Christian Bale who did this bizarre Phyllis Pearce voice whenever he was "The Batman" - in case we didn't realise he was not Bruce Wayne when he had the rubber suit on! As for turning The Joker into a terrorist. How very DREAR |

Oh absolutely. It really is hilarious to witness supposedly intelligent people falling over themselves to praise something so utterly, astonishingly banal. Talk about the Emperor's New Clothes! ![]() I really don't think we're alone either. When I saw it in the cinema, two other people sitting around me nodded off during it. It's *almost* fascinating how excrutiatingly dull it is. |

Oh I don't blame them. I struggled to stay awake too - especially during that silly bit where Batman infiltrates the building with the hostages where he can see through walls. I mean WTF??? Basically if Heath hadn't died, the film wouldn't have had half the plaudits. The frenetic editing and sloppy story means there's hardly any "acting" anyway, especially from Bale who is utterly wooden throughout. |

I heartily concur! And yeah, the bit with the night-vision was riveting...for all the wrong reasons. Actually, by that point I had lost the will to live. And to think it's meant to be all dark, realistic and gripping... :lmao:. |

I loved The Dark Knight. It did run FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR longer than it should have, though. |

After literally 5 minutes I realised it was going to be a rather gigantic steaming turd. I should've just left at that point, but I was in the centre of the aisle.

How did Batman get thrown into a Mama Mia thread? And how was the Joker made into a "terrorist"? In the first Batman movie, the Joker was poising the world's bath and beauty products. |
