The stars of Sex and the City have signed up for a sequel to last year's hit film of the US TV show. The film, due to be released by Warner Bros in summer 2010, will reunite Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. Michael Patrick King, who wrote and directed Sex and the City: The Movie, has also signed up for the sequel. King said in a statement that he was "very excited to work with these amazing actresses again". Sex and the City: The Movie was a big hit all over the world, reaching the number one spot in the UK and making $56.8m (£38.5m) in its opening weekend in the US. The DVD release sold more than 920,000 copies in its opening week in the UK. The film was based on the hit US TV series, which focuses on the lives of writer Carrie Bradshaw (Parker) and friends Samantha (Cattrall), Miranda (Nixon) and Charlotte (Davis). It had been reported there was friction between the lead actresses, but last May, Parker told BBC talk show host Jonathan Ross that she "loved those women". |

I think this will only work if in the next movie some of the women have gotten divorced and are on the market again - Charlotte, Miranda or Carrie (or all of them?) 3 of the main characters are now married and in the last movie even Samantha didn't have a sex scene. If this is going to be a movie about middle aged married women it should be called 'Menopause In the City : Carrie's dried up old vadge' instead of Sev and the City. |

I'd lie if I said I wouldn't go see it at the midnight showing on opening night, but I think it might be too much of a good thing. The first movie worked well because it served as closure that the series finale seemed to lack. |

I thought the movie was disappointing. Compared to a 25 minute show it just seemed very drawn out. Plus I found the main story of Carrie and Big as dull as I did in the series. I don't know how they can continue to keep this fresh if they are all happily married ladies (except Samantha who seemed to have substituted sex with food in the last movie) |

As long as they keep it for the big screen and don't dare bring it back to television, I couldn't care less. |

I'm so excited about this! I enjoyed every second of the movie and I thought the reviews were way too harsh. Note to writers: ditch the little Chinese foster child, she was so annoying. I bet she's better at stitching footballs in a sweat shop.

I agree people were too harsh on the first movie. I personally like the movie for the same reason a lot of critics hated it. It didn't have any "you saw Sex And The City on television, now you're watching it in the theater" type of aspirations that South Park (I am a HUGE SP fan and think the movie is just "okay") or The Simpsons had. It didn't try to stretch a 22 minute episode out to 90 minutes. It actually felt like a bonus compact "Season 7" for the show (after all the movie was long enough for five episodes), not just a really long episode. |

I enjoyed the movie, but they REALLY need up up their game. It was nowhere near as sharp and witty as the TV show. |
