'9 to 5' scores record 15 Drama Desk nominations

Apr 27, 2009, 09:09 PM | by Sean Smith

The Broadway musical, 9 to 5, based on the hit 1982 movie starring Dolly Parton, has earned a record 15 nominations from the Drama Desk, the Associated Press reports. The old record of 14 nominations was held by five other shows, including Hairspray. The score to 9 to 5 was written by Parton. The show will now compete for best musical of the year against Billy Elliot, Liza's at the Palace, Shrek, The Story of My Life and Fela! The awards will be announced on May 17.
