I just finished reading Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates and I would HIGHLY recommend it.

I had seen the movie with Kate Winslet and Leonardo diCaprio earlier this year before I read the book and thought it was a very well acted, and quite underrated film (it's streets ahead of The Reader for which Kate won this year's Oscar). I was pleased to get the book as a gift.

To summarise it's about an unhappy, suburban marriage in Connecticut in the 1950's. That said it really is beautifully written and has quite a shocking ending.

The book is better than the movie for the simple reason that it devotes more time to the interesting supporting supporting characters whereas the film was mainly about Kate and Leo.

Watch it or read it!. Tis good.
