Girls Aloud's main songwriter has admitted it will be "a small miracle" if the band continues.

Brian Higgins, who has produced the majority of the band's music as part of the Xenomania team, claimed that he is unsure if the band will ever work together again.

He told Ponystep: "If the band continues it will be a small miracle, but then, every album was for me anyway.

"That's why we put so much into it, because we couldn't believe that they'd come back to us. We never assumed they would, ever.

"I think that the body of work in terms of released songs is 110 or 120 songs now. It is very rare that anyone will do that again, that any group coming from any scene will release five or six albums, because careers just don't last that long."

Band member Nicola Roberts recently revealed that Nadine Coyle has not spoken to the band for over seven months.

She said: "If I'm really honest, we haven't spoken to Nadine since we did the Coldplay gig at Wembley in September. I talked to the other girls about it on Monday and no, none of us have heard from her. But there's no feud."

The group are currently on hiatus while they each pursue solo projects.

Yeah, I guess I saw i coming.

Was rather a good run, however. I don't think anyone would be missing anything if they do choose not to continue further

I certainly will. There were a great little pop band!

The recent pop-puppets for Xenomania output have left a LOT to be desired.

They've had some cracking tunes, and Out of Control still gets plenty of play on my ipod.

Im not denying we'd get more great pop songs... but as a group, they would start to get a bit thin

Working with Girls Aloud seems to bring out the best in Xenomania, so it would be a real shame if we saw the last of them.

I don't know much about them, but didn't they change the girl line-up a few times? Maybe that was another group I'm thinking of.

u're probably thinking of sugababes, dear.

this is all a bit too strange, as cheryl, who's the only member with a real solo career, has claimed she'd be positive for yet another studio album. i can only assume it's all nadine's fault. that deluded cow probably believes she can do it on her own, too.

Also, they *definitely* signed a new 3-album deal right after the last album. Surely they'd have known by then whether or not they wanted to continue.

It definitely sounds like that Northern Irish bitch is the problem.

they're strong enough to keep on without a fifth member. there's more to girls aloud than nadine's big vocals.
