i can't help but feel for her when she has to answer questions about cancer. maybe the media should just let go of this issue, she really doesn't need to be reminded of it each and every time. it must be quite harsh for her really.

Yeah, I had hoped that it would be a non-issue at this point. X was her post-cancer comeback. Why are they still asking her about it??

You're never "cancer-free". You always have to get checked. It's of course going to come up in interviews, how she's feeling.

As I started a thread I might as well continue.... a couple of changed.... sill very much a 6/10 for an overall rating though

1. All The Lovers 8/10
2. Get Outta My Way 9/10

Still loving these :)

3. Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love) 5/10
Blah. Generic. Filler.

4. Closer 3/10
Simply goes nowhere...... pointless, flat. It almost goes to the back of my mind when playing, my thoughts wander

5. Everything Is Beautiful 7/10
Quite enjoying this one now!

6. Aphrodite 6/10
Tacky.... all I can see is queens wearing make up doing OTT lip synching *voms in mouth*

7. Illusion 6/10
Not as bad as before... it's very meh

8. Better Than Today 6/10
AGain.... so very blah. B side quaility

9. Too Much 7/10
Improved rating I think. Much more a kick to it. I like the chorus a lot. I can't help but sing along

10. Cupid Boy 4/10
No thanks.... all i hear is an X demo. Pure filler

11. Looking For An Angel 6/10
Very weak... but enjoyable enough. I like the chorus. I can imagine this being performed with feathers

12. Can’t Beat The Feeling 7/10
Ok... I like this one now. Great synth

Billboard magazine album review...

ARTIST: KYLIE MINOGUE

ALBUM: APHRODITE

NEW YORK (Billboard) – "Dance/It's all I wanna do," Kylie Minogue tells us on "All the Lovers," the opening track of her 11th studio album, "Aphrodite." And with electronic specialist Stuart Price (Madonna, Seal) at the helm as executive producer, she never leaves the floor. The new set casts a spell with Price's signature preternatural touches, Minogue's breathy chirp and the hooky melodies of a varied crew of dance pop-focused songwriters and producers. The Nervo twins (who co-wrote David Guetta and Kelly Rowland's "When Love Takes Over") contribute the track "Put Your Hands Up," a similarly ecstatic ode to love. DJ/producer Calvin Harris and Scissor Sisters vocalist Jake Shears go for broke on "Too Much" with a fugue of synths and disco-rific sampled strings. And "Cupid Boy" matches Minogue's lusty delivery with the hisses and pulses of Sebastian Ingrosso's after-hours DJ sets. Price's ability to create a consistent sound without sacrificing each track's individuality makes the journey cohesive, fun and fitting for a goddess.

The Telegraph album review...

Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite is a mainstream pop blast, with great intros and catchy choruses.

4 out of 5

“I’m your golden girl, I’m your Aphrodite,” sings Kylie Minogue. The Australian sweetheart has undoubtedly brought the light of sunshine pop into the world, but I have never really seen Kylie as a goddess, more a gorgeous mortal raised up to the heavens by her lovely smile and give-it-a-go attitude.

Kylie has spent an astonishing 23 years in the spotlight as a kind of innocent ingénue, willingly manipulated by teams of writers and producers. It is a phenomenal achievement for someone so translucent: not a songwriter, not a trendsetter, not even a particularly remarkable singer. The question is whether, at 42, as the years erode her youthful vitality, and already cast by celebrity watchers in the less flattering roles of cancer survivor and love victim, she can maintain that quality of sparkling freshness that injects pure pop oxygen through the best of her enticing dance-floor hits.

There was something badly off the mark about her recent comments suggesting she had influenced new queen of the showgirls, Lady Gaga, because Kylie has never been an originator. And while Gaga has used the Madonna template as a starting point, Kylie has been rather more guilty of rummaging about in Madonna’s wardrobe for discards. So it is no surprise that Kylie’s 11th album is executive produced by Stuart Price, who did the same job for Madonna’s 10th, Confessions On A Dancefloor.

Aphrodite follows a similar model, dance-floor slammers with sparkling hooks expertly mixed into a non-stop disco set. The teams of collaborators marshalled by Price are top notch, including songwriters of the calibre of Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley and Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears and hit producers Calvin Harris and Starsmith. And there is, thankfully, no attempts to probe Kylie’s psyche. We don’t listen to Kylie for insight or even innovation.

This is a mainstream pop blast, with great intros (the almost New Order bass drive of Cupid Boy), tingly keyboard hooklines (Closer has a synth arpeggio that sounds like Muse at the disco), catchy choruses (once All The Lovers gets in your head, it is impossible to dislodge) and pumping codas, to which Kylie adds the sensuality of her light, breathy, close-to-the-mic vocals. She sings as if she can still squeeze into those golden hot pants.

It’s enough to maintain the illusion one more time.

I know. It's shocking.

Oh and I wouldn't advise you to set foot in SayHey. It's pretty much the album of the millenium over there. :lmao:

Ha ha. I'm tempted to have a look just for shits and giggles.

I had it on tonight when we were sat out in the garden. It's like I thought - it's grand background music but, All the Lovers excepted (which I now think is rather lovely), there wasn't a single sing that grabbed me.
