"Mighty Rivers" is a little bit of a grower. Nice chorus! Still nothing special though.
oh, i think it's rather lovely and quite better than the weakest tracks on aphrodite. ace chorus, too. is it definitely an i-tunes exclusive or is there an edition somewhere that contains it?

As far as I can gather, it's purely an iTunes exclusive. The Japanese are getting a bonus track on their CD release called "Heartstring", another Xenomania production.

Do you want an mp3 of Mighty Rivers?

well, i've just got one thanks to u

though not a blatant rip off, mighty rivers resembles something girls aloud would record. it's still a very kylie-ish song, mind u.

Yes, it's quite GA-ish alright! It wouldn't surprise me if it was intended for their next album until Nadine decided she wanted to be the worst thing that's happened to any band since Yoko Ono.

All I'll say is, her solo album is sure to provide us pop fans with so many, MANY laughs for years to come!

Well done Nadine!

Here's the review from Q. While the final score is a little harsh, I agree with every single thing the reviewer says about her, her voice and the album:

Posted Image
this is an astonishingly bad written review.

-not even a tiny mention on the standout tracks such as closer, get outta my way and aphrodite
-looking for an angel is probably the weakest song on the record and yet it's recommended for cherry picking
-how hilarious the keane pinned track is ripped apart when it's obviously a keane by numbers song they'd be praising had it been included in the 4/5 rated night train ep

q editors should just stick into being u2/oasis groupies

I shall definitely try to be there! It's been ages since I went to any of these album release things. I remember going to a very memorable one for COADF back in the last century(it seems).

Meanwhile, here's a 44 second preview of "Heartstrings" from HMV Japan!

NME album review:

KYLIE MINOGUE

APHRODITE EMI (7/10)

Listening to X now - Minogue's much anticipated post-illness album - it sounds like she was in a transition, caught between the playful pop icon and the tabloids' "Brave Kylie". But Aphrodite's uniting sound is lightness, suggesting that the singer's found a more peaceful place. Stuart Price is the perfect choice of musical partner; he harnesses both Minogue's hook-tastic side and her more interesting `wonky pop' side. Subsequently, 'Aphrodite' is her most unified work in ages. Highlights are many, but worth a particular mention are the call-to-arms of the title track and 'Better Than Today' which revisits her cutesy S/A/W days with a knowing wink.

that's one rather unexpectedly positive review from nme. unless something goes terribly wrong, she should be able to debut at number one.

Why are so many people on PJ and SayHey calling for "Everything Is Beautiful" to be a single?

That would be a spectacular disaster in my opinion. It's a harmless album track, but deathly dull.

I think she's looking at around 60k MAXIMUM this time. All of those albums were released in the busy sales period of the last quarter. Summer album sales are always much slower.

I think the sales of recent #1 albums have been pretty low up until Eminem's.

it's a safe choice for a single, indicating there's more to the album than just relentless gay club stormers -only there isn't, now is there ;)

everything is beautiful could appeal to casual fans that are fond of a traditionally structured pop song. it's basically a keane song with an electronica influenced production and kylie on main vocals. it's also quite fitting for those buying music right before christmas.

aphrodite the song would only work as a lead single, i'm pretty certain it will remain an album track
another scenario could be looking for an angel released as the third single, followed either by a risky pick such as closer/too much or a safer one (put your hands up/can't beat this feeling)

i'd personally get to choose over too much (the epitome of a grower), closer and can't beat this feeling as the potential third and fourth singles.

Hmm, I don't really agree with any of that. Mark my words, if "Everything Is Beautiful" is released(especially at Christmas), we're looking at a #17 peak scenario...if even that.

I think the title track should absolutely be the third single.

~50k is the most realistic sales figure she can achieve at this time of the year. if she does so, she should easily beat eminem on his third week.
