I think it depends on the ticket sales. She was going to do an arena here in the Netherlands but they moved it to a smaller venue with a capacity of 5000

Yeah but people pay full price for their tickets expecting to see the full, proper show that other countries saw, but then they get a dramatically scaled down version? That's really cheeky.

Remember her shitty scaled down stage for her Greek gigs last time? Her grand entrance was someone pulling aside a beach towel that she was standing behind. :lmao:
OMG I laughed out loud at this :lmao:

oh please, don't get me started on that traumatic experience again. that entrance was so beyond belief the entire crowd was left gutted for the first half of the show. had it not been for her stage charisma that saved the day in the end, some 10 thousand people would have been booing her for ripping them off. the loons may insist their only priority is to see her live, but then tell that to all casual fans who expect the original spectacle, and they have every right to do, after she made a name as a top class live act out of such tours in the past decade. at least this time around her team and herself had the decency to specify the shows outside europe and australia would be downscaled before tickets got on sale.

um, no

there were numerous attendance figures reported in the press back in the day, varying from 6k to 18k -the latter surely an exaggeration. 10k seems about right

Not necessarily really Kylie related, but I was kinda disappointed watching The View today where Bette Midler talked about the Priscilla play she is producing on Broadway. In it, one of the characters in the UK version was a gay man obsessed with Kylie, but they changed it to Madonna because Kylie "isn't well known in America". True maybe not to middle America, but to the people who would go to see a play about drag queens on Broadway produced by Bette Midler, she's a superstar. Hell, I remember in one of Margaret Cho's standup shows a few years ago, she made a joke about Dannii and the audience went wild and got what it was about. So I don't understand why Kylie had to be changed to Madonna, a drag queen in the US obsessed with Kylie makes sense since it is the gay community where Kylie owes everything she does have stateside.

This is an old story, and the majority of people, even drag queens, don't know who the hell Kylie is. Madonna is a far better choice. Hell, Madonna would have been a far better choice in the show's original run!

True, but the people who are going to see a play produced by Bette Midler are fudgepacking queens.... pretty much the only people in America who care for Kylie. So it'd be pandering to its audience, kinda like when Margaret Cho called Jeb Bush the Dannii Minogue of the Bush family on the Assassin DVD and she got the biggest applause of the entire show. Kylie is well-known in America.... with gays.

She's no incredible performer, but she does actually have charisma. One of the best bits in her new show is when she's pretty much alone on the stage singing an old song that people request. She definitely manages to hold that arena's attention by herself. That takes charisma! Someone with no charisma would literally vanish in the same situation.

it's interesting u point this. all friends of mine, both straight or gay, that have been casual fans of hers and have seen her live were surprised by the fact her tiny figure fills the stage when performing all alone. that's why i think toned down, yet still expensive looking show productions would fit her perfectly in the future

Kylie Minogue 'planning 2012 musical'

Kylie Minogue is reportedly in the process of planning a musical based on her career.

According to the Irish Evening Echo, the Aphrodite star will collaborate with stylist William Baker to write the show.

Minogue revealed: "It's definitely happening. We've brought a scriptwriter in and are working on a few synopses.

"And the critics ... music critics are one thing but theatre critics are something else. I suppose if it doesn't work then that's it - it's a closed book."

Meanwhile, Baker said: "We're both working on the Kylie musical, using all her songs, which will hopefully be done next year some time. I can't wait!"
