Digtal Spy's single review of "Kidz":

Take That: 'Kidz'

Released on Sunday, February 27 2011

Posted Image

The Robbie Rejoining Effect? Roughly akin to applying 5,000 volts to Take That's testicles - with the good doctor Stuart Price on hand to ensure no nasty repercussions. 'The Flood' was, if you will, a mere bridge, with single number two from Progress better showcasing the album's slightly off-kilter, surprisingly adventurous and very British pop sensibilities.

Beginning with the sound of marching feet, and ending with the wail of police sirens, 'Kidz' is a rabble-rousing glam-disco-pop stomper with ambiguously apocalyptic lyrics and - not inappropriately - one hell of a chorus. Mark breaks out the 'tude like he's Liam Gallagher ("Hey hey hey… what you lookin' at?"), Robbie belts out that chorus like The X Factor never happened, and the rest of the boys "la-la-la" like they're already at Wembley. 'Kidz' won't make the tracklisting of many Mothers' Day comps, but honest to God, Take That haven't been this thrilling since 'Never Forget'.

Take That 'followed by Mafia in Bulgaria'

Take That were reportedly followed by "Mafia-style characters" on a recent trip to Bulgaria.

The group were in the country to film the music video for new single 'Kidz' and apparently attracted the unwanted attention of local gang members, who were trying to find out what was going on.

"Bulgaria was chosen because it is one of the few places left in Europe where Take That don't get recognised and hassled," a source told The Sun. "They flew out earlier this week to film in secret on the biggest film set in Europe.

"Local TV crews said the band were 'harder to find than a dragon's tooth' because security was so tight. But they must have caught the eye of a few characters when they arrived at the airport. Some threatening-looking blokes in big leather jackets made it their business to find out what was going on.

"They followed the crew and were raising a few eyebrows. For the entire 48 hours Take That were out there, including two 5am starts, a group of ten guys kept an eye on the production. It was unnerving stuff but thankfully they didn't want any trouble or money. The band had a full police escort for the entire trip."

was there a special reason - a particular location or event, for instance- why they chose to film the video in bulgaria?

quite a few low-budget hollywood movies have been shot there, wisely taking advantage of the numerous large-scale movie sets, tax cuts, and cheaper labor there.

maybe parts of the video are set in nyc? i know they have monstrous nyc movie sets in the studio. no idea really...

i had no idea bulgaria has turned to a prime location for low cost film productions. good on them, i suppose - such an overall budget's serving their local economy right, ain't it?

Do you think they'll bother with a third single? The album was given a boost by the BRITS but is now sliding again.

They might decide that the upcoming tour is enough publicity. But I suspect that there will be one last single.

(I actually can't even remember any singles from the last album after "Greatest Day".)

The album is so littered with great songs, it would be a shame if there wasn't a third single. However, I'm sure the album has now sold as much as it's going to sell, so there's not really much point releasing anything else, plus it looks like they blew their budget on this video!

surely they'll go for a third one to coincide with the tour. it's not like their label would refuse to fund a video for it. there's still life left in the album. some more singles planned, however low they may chart, could turn it to a stellar seller throughout the whole year.

Robbie Williams to remain with Take That?

Take That have hinted that Robbie Williams could record with them on their next studio album.

It was originally believed that Williams would join his bandmates for one final LP and tour, but Gary Barlow has revealed that Williams has continued to work with the group on their new album.

"We really want that and this is our dream come true. At the beginning we all said it was going to last for one album, but we're starting to write again, so we don't know now," Barlow explained in an interview in the States, reports The Sun.

Claims that Williams is poised to sign a new solo deal led to speculation that he was to leave the band following their upcoming summer tour.

"Robbie is still desperate to be a solo artist and we can very much exist as a four," Barlow added.

Mark Owen has insisted that there have been no feuds that would lead to Williams's exit, which was the main cause for his departure from the band back in 1995.

"We are a team - at the moment Take That is five people, but it feels more than that. There's a lot of people who have a relationship with us," Owen stated.

"At the beginning there was a fragility to the whole thing, but that has gone now."

Barlow is allegedly days from signing a deal to join The X Factor, following Williams's rejection of a deal with the ITV1 talent show.

If they had any sense, they would record a new single, and repackage the album with bonus tracks to coincide with the tour.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Surely the record company would be pushing for that too.

"Happy Now" has been C-listed at Radio 1, so I assume it is getting a release of some sort?
