Coldplay have returned to the studio with famed producer Brian Eno.

Eno produced the band's most recent album, 'Viva La Vida', and worked with U2 on their forthcoming release 'No Line On The Horizon'.

The band made the announcement today (January 23) that they were "back in the studio for a couple of weeks" via a Twitter update.

Meanwhile, Coldplay are preparing to embark on a Japanese tour next month before heading down under for dates in Australia and New Zealand.

oh wow. The more new Coldplay the better.

Admittedly, I'd rather see Eno reunite with Bowie again. Outside wasn't as good as the Berlin trilogy but it was still perhaps his best 90's album.

madonna's tribute wasn't tacky at all. if anything, she paid her respect in a dignified and tasteful manner. rather than singing one of his songs herself-mind u, she's probably the only one that deserved doin so- she chose to present a celebration of the man instead.

coldplay's version of billie jean is the most dreadful one i've ever heard.

Coldplay have revealed that they will release their fifth studio album album "hopefully this Christmas".

The group confirmed that they have been recording new material under maximum security in North London.

"There are only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files," frontman Chris Martin told TV Globo.

"Even we don't know how to do it. We couldn't even steal our own music. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it."

The band recently revealed that they have been working on a "stripped back" sound with producer Brian Eno.

Coldplay sold over 9 million copies of their 2008 album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.

Brian Eno has spoken about his involvement on the new Coldplay album.

The band revealed last month that they are returning to the studio with Eno for their upcoming fifth album this spring, which frontman Chris Martin later announced he wants to release before Christmas.

The veteran producer, who helmed Coldplay's 2008 album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, told BBC 6 Music that he has forced them out of their comfort zones on the record.

"It's not rocket science, and it's not Svengali-ism either," he explained. "It's not some attempt to subvert the band, but just to see what other possibilities are lurking within them that might not come out within their normal working situations."

Describing the group's latest tracks, he added: "It's quite different from anything they've done before, I think, so far anyway. I don't know how it will end up being, but it's very fresh."

Word is that the first single from the upcoming album should be surfacing within the coming week. They've been dropping some abstract poetry clips (such as this one) that many think are lyrics to new music.

Coldplay to Release 'Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall' Single Friday

Coldplay fans will finally get to hear some new music when the group releases a new single, "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall," this Friday (June 3), the same day their summer festival run kicks off in Germany. The band made the announcement on its official website, where it also posted the single's artwork and full lyrics, and posted a video teaser on its YouTube page (watch below).

"We're about to play a bunch of summer festivals so it's as good a time as any to put out a new song," the band wrote in a message credited to drummer Will Champion. The song's lyrics hint at a triumphant tone for the "rebel song," with lines like, "And all the kids they dance, all the kids all night/Until Monday morning feels another life/I turn the music up/I'm on a roll this time/And heaven is in sight."

"Waterfall" will stream on the band's website Friday and be released digitally everywhere except the U.K., where it will come out a day later. Coldplay will also perform the new single for the first time during its gig at the Rock Im Park festival in Nuremberg, Germany on Friday. After performing at European fests like Glastonbury and T in the Park, the group will head to Japan and Australia before hitting the States for Lollapalooza on August 5 and Austin City Limits on Sept. 16.

The announcement does not indicate whether "Waterfall" is the first taste of Coldplay's forthcoming, Brian Eno-produced fifth album, which frontman Chris Martin described as focusing on "love, addiction, OCD, escape and working for someone you don't like" in an interview last January. The group's last effort, 2008's "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends," has sold 2.7 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Dear friends

We're about to play a bunch of summer festivals so it's as good a time as any to put out a new song.

'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' will be available digitally on Friday 3rd June at 12pm (BST), except in the UK where it'll come out on the stroke of midnight between Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June.

We'll also stream it here on Friday and give it a run out at Rock Im Park.

Love Will

Full lyrics:

I TURN THE MUSIC UP, I GOT MY RECORDS ON
I SHUT THE WORLD OUTSIDE UNTIL THE LIGHTS COME ON
MAYBE THE STREETS ALIGHT, MAYBE THE TREES ARE GONE
I FEEL MY HEART START BEATING TO MY FAVOURITE SONG

AND ALL THE KIDS THEY DANCE, ALL THE KIDS ALL NIGHT
UNTIL MONDAY MORNING FEELS ANOTHER LIFE
I TURN THE MUSIC UP
I’M ON A ROLL THIS TIME
AND HEAVEN IS IN SIGHT

I TURN THE MUSIC UP, I GOT MY RECORDS ON
FROM UNDERNEATH THE RUBBLE SING A REBEL SONG
DON’T WANT TO SEE ANOTHER GENERATION DROP
I’D RATHER BE A COMMA THAN A FULL STOP

MAYBE I’M IN THE BLACK, MAYBE I’M ON MY KNEES
MAYBE I’M IN THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO TRAPEZES
BUT MY HEART IS BEATING AND MY PULSES START
CATHEDRALS IN MY HEART

AND WE SAW OH THIS LIGHT I SWEAR YOU, EMERGE BLINKING INTO
TO TELL ME IT’S ALRIGHT
AS WE SOAR WALLS, EVERY SIREN IS A SYMPHONY
AND EVERY TEAR’S A WATERFALL
IS A WATERFALL
OH
IS A WATERFALL
OH OH OH
IS A IS A WATERFALL
EVERY TEAR
IS A WATERFALL
OH OH OH

SO YOU CAN HURT, HURT ME BAD
BUT STILL I’LL RAISE THE FLAG

OH
IT WAS A WA WA WA WA WA-ATERFALL
A WA WA WA WA WA-ATERFALL

EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEARDROP IS A WATERFALL

EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEARDROP IS A WATERFALL
